Parallel guide
NOTE: Cutting along the length of a piece of material rather than across it is called rip cutting. Rip cutting should always be done with the parallel guide set to
the desired width and on the right hand side of the tool's sawing table.
NOTE: Check that the parallel guide is locked in position and is parallel to the saw blade. Check that the riving knife is properly aligned with the saw blade.
Guide the workpiece through the saw, keeping it aligned against the parallel guide. Use smooth, steady pressure and use the push stick when necessary.
NOTE: A push stick is provided with your tool. When not in use, store the push stick with the tool.
• When ripping long boards or large panels always use additional piece suppport or enlist competent trained personnel to help you.
• When ripping smaller workpieces, the push stick should be used to guide the final 300 mm of the piece through the blade. The push stick should always be
used when making cuts of less than 300 mm.
Operation as Chop and Miter Saw
WARNING: It is important that the operator is adequately trained in the use, adjustment and operation of the power tool, and has read the
instructions manual before commencing operations.
NOTE: We recommend that when the machine is being used as a miter saw, the table assembly is removed from the tool and stored safely for future use.
Releasing the cutting head
NOTE: When in miter saw mode the cutting head will be automatically locked in its highest position with the retracting lower blade guard completely covering
the blade teeth.
To release the cutting head, hold the handle and press the release lever down slowly. The retracting lower blade guard will open automatically.
NOTE: When the machine is not in use, the cutting head should be locked in its lowest position, with the lower saw blade cover correctly installed and the
cutting head latching pin fully engaged in its socket.
Caution:
• Avoid challenging or unnatural working positions where a sudden slip could cause your fingers or hands to come into contact with the blade.
• Cut only one workpiece at a time.
• Remove everything except the workpiece and associated support devices from the immediate area of the blade before starting any operation.
• Fasten the workpiece using the clamp and othe devices if needed, to make sure it will remain securely on the table and fence.
1. Raise the table top to its highest position and tighten the height adjustment
screw.
2. Pull out the cutting head latching pin and raise the cutting head to its
highest position.
3. Remove the ower saw blade cover and store safely for future use.
4. Press the cutting head release lever button down, hold the handle and force
it upwards at the same time.
Hands and body position
• Keep hands away from the path of the blade. Never place your hands within the marked
"No Hands Zone" (at least 140mm away from each side of the blade). Icons on the machine's
rotary table are provided as an aid to safe working practices.
• Keep the workpiece steady and in line with the fence to prevent any accidental movement.
Use the workpiece clamp if possible. Always check that the clamp is positioned in a way that
does not interfere with your work.
