Caution! In all installation work described below, ensure that the equipment in which the
sensor is to be installed is in a non-hazardous condition (depressurized, empty, rinsed,
vented, etc.).
Requirements to be compliant with EHEDG: Install the sensor according to the require-
ments given in EHEDG Guidelines 8, 10 and 37. That is, to mount the sensor in a
self-draining orientation, which is only possible in vertical pipe installations. The sensor
should be installed flush to the process area. If mounting in a T-piece, the ratio between
the depth of the upstand (L) and the diameter (D) of the upstand shall be L / D < 1. The
device has been developed for Cleaning in Place (CIP) applications and must not be
dismantled for cleaning.
4.1
Sensor installation
The sensor is equipped with a Tuchenhagen- VARIVENT
the sensor to the process pipe in dimensions from DN40 to DN 150. Prior to the installation, the
sealing surfaces (sensor and pipe adapter) need to be cleaned and checked for damages. Further,
it needs to be verified that no obstacles are present within the installation cavity of the sensor.
The installation of the sensor should be in a vertical standpipe. If the sensor will be installed in a
horizontal pipe, it must be in a horizontal position and the process pipe has to be filled complete-
ly with liquid during the measurement.
Installation on a vertical line (preferred)
There is a mark on the sensor head which shows the flow direction of the media. The sensor
needs to be installed in this direction.
Mark for the installation into a pipe
The sensor must be fitted to the pipe at least 2 meters (6.6 ft) away from stray light sources
(such as sight glasses).
