B FLOW CONTROL HEAD
Diff erent fl ows can be selected by the fl ow control knob on the fl ow head.
Depending on product variant, the fl ow control head is fi tted with a stop
function in between maximum fl ow and zero position.
C USER OUTLET
The "fl ow outlet" user connection is the outlet from the fl ow control head
normally with a push on hose fi tting (hose nipple) or threaded (for humidi-
fi er).
This outlet is for supplying a gas fl ow (l/min) at atmospheric pressure di-
rectly to a patient, e.g. through a cannula or a facemask.
The product is not fi tted with a pressure relief valve. The user must en-
sure that an over pressure protection is in place on the medical gas sup-
ply pipeline (see requirement of ISO 7396-1) or on medical regulator (see
requirement of ISO 10524-1, 3).
The fl ow outlet shall not be use for driving any medical device.
Note also that products colour (specially fl ow control knob) might not fol-
low any gas colour coding.
6. OPERATIONS
6.1. BEFORE USE
VISUAL INSPECTION BEFORE FITTING
•
Check if there is visible external damage to the product (including prod-
uct labels and marking). If it shows signs of external damages, remove it
from service and identify its status.

Visually check if the product is contaminated; if needed, for the regula-
tor, use the cleaning procedure detailed in this section.

Check if the service or the disposal time has not been exceeded, using
GCE or owner's date coding system. If service or disposal time has been
exceeded, remove the low pressure regulator from service & suitably
identify its status.
•
Set fl ow control knob on ZERO position - until the fl ow control knob
engages.
Remove caps from inlet and/or fl ow outlet. Keep caps in a safe place for
reuse during transport or storage.
The low pressure regulator is dedicated only for use with the gas speci-
fi ed on its labelling. Never try to use for another gas.
FITTING TO MEDICAL GAS PIPELINE SYSTEM TERMINAL UNITS
The low pressure regulator shall be connected only at specifi ed position.
Zero fl ow ("0") on the fl ow control knob shall be positioned up (at 12´clock).
