8.3 Setting the zero point
The Tare function enables you to zero measurement channels. This function is
used to mask back-pressure present in the system.
For example, if a pressure of 3 bar is present at a pressure transmitter despite
the system having been switched off, this value can be used as the new
zero point for display purposes. This function is also available for performing
differential measurements.
The channel can be zeroed at any point throughout the measurement range of
a measurement channel.
Example:
The Mode key takes you to the
screen shown on the right. Now use
the right arrow key to select SET for
setting the zero point. Actuating the
right arrow key again (CLR) enables
you to delete or clear the zero point.
The left arrow button enables you
to scroll back. Pressing Mode then
causes the zero point to be set or
cleared.
For safety reasons, all measurement
channels which have been zeroed
are indicated by the flashing
measurement unit (see screenshot).
Caution!
High pressure may still be present in a measurement channel where the unit
of measurement is flashing even though the pressure reading shows 0 bar.
Before removing a sensor or other system components make sure the system
has been depressurized first.
Failure to do this may pose a risk.
