THE VARIATOR

MAINTENANCE

It is very important that the variator has a correct maintenance.
The body of the variator, if the installation and the maintenance are properly done, has 2 years
warranty. The rest of the components (slider, bushing, bell and rollers) are consumables, so they
should be replaced at the end of their life.
In order to avoid technical problems, we recommend do the installation in an authorized workshop
to assure its correct assembly.
It is recommended that in every change of oil, also check the variator to see the status of the
rollers, bushings, sliders and the belt.
It is necessary to change the rollers when you feel that the engine is going at high RPM and the
scooter is not moving accordingly.
If there's movement between the slider and the bushing, more than 0,2mm, the bushing needs
to be replaced in order to achieve again the full performance of the variator.
Depending on the type of riding, and the characteristics of the rider (weight/tall) the durability of
the consumables could be affected.

IMPORTANT

When you start using the J.Costa variator you need to know that the rollers need a running-in
time (between 200-300km) during this time they could have a little wear. It is totally normal and
necessary.
