the engine case). Before assembling, put the bell on the crankshaft neck. Turn it, applying pressure
to the engine case and check if anything is touching. In affirmative case, fit the washer on the
crankshaft and then the variator. If it is not touching do not install the washer.
YAMAHA TMAX 500:
plastics are out, we can access to the aluminium transmission cover. Before removing the nut, you
must loosen all the screws. At the bottom right part of the cover, apply a little of pressure to unlock
it. Remove the cover. Use one of the cover screws to reduce the pressure of the rear pulley in order
to take out tension to the bell. Remove the original variator and proceed to assemble the J.Costa
one.
Once the variator is assembled, proceed to fit the spacer and the nut. With the Yamaha tool, proceed
to fit the bell and torque to (16KG) 160Nm. Unlock the screw applied on the rear pulley to allow the
belt to have tension again. Proceed to put the cover back on and tighten the screws again.
KYMCO AK550: Composed by a variator and a special washer. This variator is optimized for sport
use, it is not compatible with non-original components in the transmission. The washer should be
placed at the end of the crankshaft, the same way as its shown on the image:
