GROUP B INSTALLATIONS:
WARNING:
This fixture is designed for permanent installation in GROUP B classified locations (as defined by the National
®
Electrical Code
) only when installed with appropriate Appleton Electric Company mounting hoods. For GROUP B installations, the
mounting hood, sealing fitting and fixture must all be marked as suitable for use in GROUP B areas. (See Figure 3.)
WARNING:
All mounting hoods must have a Group B approved sealing fitting of the appropriate trade size installed within two
inches of the hood. Any manufacturer's Group B approved sealing fitting may be used. Follow the manufacturer's sealing fitting
instructions for proper seal installation.
PENDANT AND STANCHION MOUNTING HOODS:
Remove connection block from mounting hood by loosening two (2) mounting screws. Thread hood onto conduit at least five (5)
threads (conduit should engage the internal stop) and tighten locking screw.
• Connect the green wire to the green screw provided in the mounting hood.
• Connect the black wire to the black wire of connection block, and the white wire to the white wire of
connection block.
• Replace the connection block into the mounting hood and re-tighten the screws securely.
• Screw fixture body into hood by hand until gasket makes contact with hood. Keep turning until the fixture body cannot be turned
any more and is firmly in place.
• Do not open globe ring assembly, as there are no replaceable parts inside the fixture body.
INSTALLATION OF REFLECTOR & GUARD:
• Reflectors and guards are provided with keyhole slots (see Figure 8). To install, loosen three (3) mounting screws in globe-ring
assembly and insert reflectors or guards over them (reference Figure 9). Be sure slots for the locking screw are properly located.
Tighten the three (3) screws.
• When an angle reflector is used, orient reflector to direct light output near the desired direction.
MAINTENANCE DATA:
CAUTION:
Disconnect supply circuit before opening fixture.
• To maintain maximum light output from this fixture, it should be cleaned periodically as follows:
1. Alkaline or acidic cleaners will attack the protective coating of epoxy on the fixture and should not be used. The aluminum
exterior of this fixture should be cleaned only with a mild soap or cleaner, and should be rinsed with water immediately.
This will allow the epoxy to protect the fixture from corrosive elements in the atmosphere and result in longer fixture life.
2. The glass globe should be cleaned using a soft cloth and a non-abrasive cleaner. The globe should be regularly inspected
for scratches or chips. If the globe is scratched or chipped, the fixture MUST be replaced.
3. The porcelain enamel reflector may be cleaned with any non-abrasive detergent or glass cleaner.
• These periodic cleaning procedures are important to prevent the accumulation of dust and dirt which will impair the light
output of the fixture.
• When removing and repairing the fixture, lubricate threads only with Appleton TLC-3 conductive, high-temperature lubricant.
This should only be necessary if threads are no longer coated with the blue or black color of the dry film lubricant.
• See the next page for drawings and a complete parts list.
OPERATIONAL DATA:
• The fixture must be operated in an environment that does not exceed 55°C for models CJLL1 and CJLL2.
• The fixture must be operated in an environment that does not exceed 40°C for model CJLL3.
• The BU fixture may be operated on AC power from 120 VAC to 277 VAC and on DC power from 100 VDC to 300 VDC.
• The BH fixture may be operated on AC power from 347 VAC to 480 VAC.
REPLACEMENT PARTS:
