Electrical motor wiring
Electrical motors for compressors
These are designed for a direct start.
The compressor motors must be fitted with an anti-short cycle mechanism allowing a maximum of 6 start-ups per hour.
Always refer to the instructions shown on the compressor
Important
: the maximum imbalance between phases is 2% in voltage and 10% in current per motor.
Electronic module protection
The 7.5HP to 15HP power models have an electronic winding motor temperature protection (identified by a W in the motor
reference, e.g. ZF33K4E-TWD ).
These are equipped with module INT 69SCY as a standard feature.
These modules detect the following problems:
-Rotor blocked, cut-out temperature 80°C
-Motor overheating, cut-out temperature 140°C
-Discharge temperature too high
In all cases, the compressor restart time delay is 30 minutes after the disappearance of the fault.
Internal thermostat protection
The other models than those mentioned above have an internal motor overheating protection (internal Klixon), which stops the
motor in the event of the winding temperature being too high, independently of the control.
For ZF models up to ZF18, a mini intensity relay (INT 125 type 35) is added in order to detect the cutting out of the compressor
to serve the injection of liquid during compressor shut down.
ADDITIONAL SAFETY CONTROLS
Safety Features
The safety switches fitted to the compressors must cut off the compressor instantaneously.
Discharge thermostat
ZF models (up to ZF18) have an external discharge thermostat which controls the discharge temperature.
The thermostat cut-off point is
The cut-in differential is 28 K +/- 5 K
The crankcase heater must be powered and operational during compressor shut-downs.
AUTOMATIC MECHANICAL DEVICES
As we do not design the installation, we are not responsible for the electrical layout and refrigeration equipment.
Nevertheless, we recommend:

providing a pump down or pump out control to close the system down
-
providing for an automatic closure of one or more refrigerant fluid solenoid
providing condenser pressure control.

START-UP OPERATIONS

PRELIMINARY CHECKS AND OPERATIONS
General information
Ensure that all the threads are fully tightened on connection flanges, flexible connections and cables.
jolting during transport could cause screws and bolts to loosen.
Check also, for same reasons, if there are any breaks in the piping.
Ensure that the flexible connections are not in contact with metal parts. Vibrations from the compressor can cause wear in these
until they rupture at the point of friction.
Switch on crankcase heaters 24 hours before start-up.
Before starting up a machine with pressurised receivers, all service valves must first be opened upstream and downstream and all
external valves closed.
Determining the compressor rotation direction
Important:
Scroll compressors only have one rotation direction. Any rotation in the opposite sense may lead to a compressor
destruction.
During the first start up, it is absolutely necessary to determine the phases connections to compressor terminals. That handling
must be tactful with hermetic compressors and must be extremely fast.
