r) Installing the cowling
Before the cowling can be installed, neatly cut off the cowling along the rear
marking using a pair of scissors. Then remove the ABS material from the air
inlets. This is best done using a mini-drill and a burr.
Important!
Proceed very carefully as the appearance of the canopy contributes
significantly to the overall appearance of you "PC-9"!
First, glue the four approx. 8 x 8 cm plastic plates (1) into the holes of the motor
mounting plate.
Mark the centre points of the plates on the canopy and pre-drill the screw holes
in the canopy using a 1.5-mm drill.
Attach the canopy and align it exactly with the help of the spinner plate.
Mark the screw holes of the canopy on the plastic plates and pre-drill the screw
holes using a 1-mm drill.
When tightening the screws, make sure not to apply to much force
to avoid over-tightening the screws.
s) Installing the motor holder
Draw auxiliary lines on the motor mounting plate as shown in ill. 19 (continuous
lines). Draw a second auxiliary line vertical up at the intersection of these auxiliary
lines. Mark a drill hole 6 mm up from the lower intersection and drill the hole
using a 1-mm drill.
Cut off 40 mm from the squared timber (10x10x100 mm). Use a 1-mm drill to
drill a hole exactly in the centre. Apply some 5-minute epoxy resin on the squared
timber and screw it onto the motor mounting plate (screw 1.5 x 10 mm). Use a
thixotropic agent (micro balloons or cotton flocks) to thicken the resin and
reinforce the joint.
