Setting the threaded mandrel length „X"
•
Loosen lock nut C
•
Set the threaded mandrel length „X" to the blind rivet nut length by turning the nosepiece
(Fig. 4).
•
Fully utilise the thread depth of closed blind rivet nuts (Fig. 4).
•
Lock the nosepiece B against being turned with lock nut C using double open-ended
spanners (WAF 24/27).

Adjusting setting force „y"

blind rivet nut size (e.g. M5x11.5) and material thickness. The setting stroke corresponds to
the distance the mandrel is pulled into the nose piece during setting process and therefore
how far the blind rivet nut is compressed.
CAUTION! Unlike the FireBird
ting stroke must be readjusted if the nut length or material thickness is changed.
The setting stroke „y" is adjusted as follows (Fig. 2):
1. Losen the setting piece (D) using the enclosed wrench (SW 24/27).
2. Turn the adjusting nut (E) to adjust the setting stroke „y" using the scale (F) (One division
of the scale / One full turn of the adjusting nut corresponds to 1 mm setting stroke). Moving
the adjusting nut towards the tool reduces the setting stroke; moving it away from the tool
increases the setting stroke.
3. Hold the adjusting nut (E) with the wrench (SW 27/30) and tighten the setting piece (D)
hand-tight with the wrench (SW 24/27)
The values for the setting stroke in the following table are only guide values and depend
strongly on the blind rivet nut used and the material thickness! The correct setting stroke has
to be determined by trials with the exact material thickness. The greater the material thick-
ness, the smaller the setting stroke must be selected. A new nut must be used for each test!
