Setting Up the Measuring Tool
Horizontal position
Vertical position
Position the measuring tool on a firm surface in the
horizontal or vertical position, mount it to a tripod or to
the wall mount 24 with alignment unit.
Due to the high levelling accuracy, the measuring tool
reacts sensitively to ground vibrations and position
changes. Therefore, pay attention that the position of
the measuring tool is stable in order to avoid opera-
tional interruptions due to re-levelling.
Switching On and Off
Do not point the laser beam at persons or
animals and do not look into the laser beam
yourself, not even from a large distance.
Do not leave the switched on measuring tool
unattended and switch the measuring tool
off after use. Other persons could be blinded by
the laser beam.
To switch on the measuring tool, press the On/Off
button 6. Immediately after switching on, the measur-
ing tool sends out the variable laser beam 9 and the
plumb beam 1.
After switching on, the measuring tool automatically
detects the horizontal or vertical position. To change
between the horizontal and vertical position, switch
the measuring tool off, reposition it and switch on
again.
When the measuring tool is in the horizontal posi-
tion, the menu for grade setting is indicated on the dis-
play 5 after switching on (see "Grade Setting in the
Horizontal Position", page 26). After switching on, the
measuring tool immediately begins with the automatic
levelling.
– When the stored grade for both axes is 0.00 %,
the rotational plane is horizontally aligned.
– When grade values that deviated from zero were
set when switching off the last time, then the
measuring tool will start after approx. 30 s with the
stored grade values.
In vertical position, the measuring tool immediately
starts the automatic levelling after switching on. The
menu for alignment of the rotational plane (see "Align-
ing the Rotational Plane in the Vertical Position",
page 25) is indicated on the display 5.
In point operation, the laser flashes during coarse lev-
elling or while aligning to set grade values (independ-
ent of the position). After completion of the coarse
levelling or the aligning, the laser beams light up con-

tinuously and the measuring tool starts in rotational
operation. The measuring tool precisely levels itself
within the next 60 s.
When factory set, the shock-warning function is auto-
matically switched on.
To switch off, press the On/Off 6 pushbutton again.
Selecting the Menu Language
The default menu language is English; other languages
are available.
To select the menu language, press and hold the func-
tion-mode button 7 with the measuring tool switched
off, while switching the measuring tool on with the
On/Off button 6.
"LANG CAL/QUIT" is indicated on the display. Press
the selection button 8 above "LANG". Two languages
are indicated in the top of the display. By pressing the
function-mode button 7 below "SELECT", you can dis-
play all available languages one after another.
Press the selection button above the indication of the
desired language. The selected language is indicated
in the top of the display for confirmation. Shut the
measuring tool off with On/Off button 6 to store the
menu language.

Operating Modes

Course of X- and Y-Axis
The X- and Y-axis are marked on the housing above
the rotation head. The alignment aide 12 facilitates the
alignment of the measuring tool alongside the Y-axis.
Navigating in the Menu
To change the operating mode or exit a submenu,
press the "MODE" function-mode button 7.
To exit the grade menu (indicated e.g. after switching
on in horizontal position of the measuring tool), press
function-mode button 7 for 5 s. For all other menu
changes, the function-mode button must only be
pressed briefly.
Press the right selection button 4 "SELECT" to
access the submenu indicated on the top right of the
display or to select the function indicated on the top
right.
Press the left selection button 8 "SELECT" to
access the submenu indicated on the top left of the dis-
play or to select the function indicated on the top left.
Pressing and holding the left or right selection button
increases the speed of the desired change for many
functions, e.g. for rotation of the laser point or laser
line within the rotational plane.
