3 Operation

3.1 Taking into operation

Open the cold water shut-off valves

• Open cold water shut-off valves (A) by turning them to
the left up to the limit stop
• In order to ensure that the VGH is filled with water,
open a warm water tap till water flows

• Open gas shut-off valve by pressing the handle and
turning it to the left up to the limit stop
Commissioning
• Turn the operating knob 1 to position
• First press down the operating knob
(1), at the same time press so often on the piezo-igni-
ter 2 several times until till the pilot flame is lighted
• The pilot flame can be seen through the top opening 3
of the cover
• Keep the operating knob (1) pressed for about 10 s to
15 s
• Release the operating knob
• Now set the knob to the desired water temperature
If the pilot flame extinguishes after releasing the knob,
repeat ignition procedure.

3.2 Setting the water temperature

The atmoSTOR VGH classic will be switched
automatically on as soon as the temperature
falls below the water temperature set by you at
the temperature knob (1) and will be automati-
cally shut down if the adjusted water temperatu-

re is reached.

A temperature can be set progressively at the tempera-
ture selector knob (1). The positions 1–7 correspond to
a temperature range from approx. 40 °C to 70 °C. For
economic and hygienic reasons (e.g. bacteria legionella)
we recommend the setting "5" (approx. 60 °C). For
installations with long pipes (e.g. hospitals, old peoples'
homes, multifamily dwellings), the water temperature
must be set to 60 °C (position "5"). This applies also to
installations with several hot water cylinders if their
overall content exceeds 400 l.

3.3 Shutting down

• Turn the knob (1) to the off-position (
• Close gas shut-off valve (2)
