Carrying Out Measurements

Measuring Horizontal Angles (see figure F)
– Switch the display on.
"Switching On the Display" see page 21.
– Position the measuring tool above measuring point
A. "Setting Up/Aligning the Measuring Tool" see
page 23.
– Press the OSET button to zero the indication for
the horizontal circle.
– Direct the telescope against target point B.
The angle between points A and B is indicated on
the display:
"HR" Counting direction clockwise
"HL" Counting direction anticlockwise.
Pre-adjusting Horizontal Angles
– Turn the measuring tool until the desired angle is
indicated on display "HR" or "HL", e.g., HR
60°00'00''
– Press the HOLD button.
The display indication flashes.
– Now, direct the measuring tool against the target
point and press the HOLD button again.
The display indication is shown continuous again.
The adjusted horizontal angle (e.g. HR 60°00'00'')
thus corresponds with the starting point for the
next measurement.
Measuring Vertical Angles (see figure G)
– Select the desired setting of the vertical-angle cir-
cle. ("Configuring the Measuring Tool" see
page 22)
– Direct the measuring tool against a target point.
The vertical angle is indicated on the display next
to V.
Determining the Enclosed Inclination Angle:
– To determine the enclosed angle, direct the tele-
scope against a first target point and note down
the indicated value for the vertical angle.
– Afterwards, direct the telescope against a second
target point and subtract the indicated value for
the vertical angle from the value of the first target
point.
By pressing the V/% button, you can change the incli-
nation readout to % or grad.
Measuring Distances (see figures H1 – H3)
Distances can be measured with help of the stadia
hairs symmetrical to the crosshair of the eyepiece.
– Position the measuring tool above measuring point
A.
Read off the length l with the crosshair and a lev-
elling rod at the target point B.
– Calculate the difference L with the following for-
mula:
L = 100 x l

Accuracy Check of the Measuring Tool
(see figures I1
Apart from exterior influences, device-specific influ-
ences (such as heavy impact or falling down) can lead
to deviations. Therefore, check the accuracy of the
measuring tool each time before starting your work.
– Set up 2 identical levelling rods 60 m apart in a
horizontal plane and mark points A and B.
– Position the measuring tool centred between the
levelling rods. "Setting Up/Aligning the Measuring
Tool" see page 23.
– Switch the display on and determine the values for
points A and B.
– Now position the measuring tool in the extension
of connection line A-B, align again and determine
the values for points A and B once more.
The differences between the determined values must
be the same: (A – A') = (B – B')
They provide the inaccuracy over a distance of 60 m.
When the differences deviate from each other, the
measuring tool must be calibrated.
Note: For calibration of the measuring tool, please
refer to your dealer or an authorised service agent for
Bosch power tools.
Checking and Adjusting the Measur-
ing Tool
Sequence for Checking
Note: For proper adjustment of the measuring tool,
the following sequence must always be observed:
1. Checking and Adjusting the Plate Level
(see page 24)
2. Checking and Adjusting the Circular Bubble Vial
(see page 25)
3. Checking and Adjusting the Optical Plummet
(see page 25)
– For all checks, position the measuring tool on a
level surface. "Setting Up/Aligning the Measuring
Tool" see page 23.
– Check all settings and correct as required.
– To be on the safe side, always check the measur-
ing tool a second time.
Checking and Adjusting the Plate Level
Checking:
– Position the plate level parallel to levelling screws
A and B. (see figure J1)
– Centre the bubble of the plate level with help of
levelling screws A and B.
– Turn the measuring tool 90° and centre the bubble
of the plate level with levelling screw C. (see
figure J2)
