General safety notes
The manuals for the system and parts thereof as well as the maintenance records and handover certificates must be kept
available near the system.
The accident prevention regulations, the applicable standards and directives as well as the regulations from the local energy
and supply companies must be observed during the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of the system.
WARNING
The tank of the separator does not have to be accessed for installation or maintenance purposes.
Nonetheless, if it is necessary to access a tank for unforeseen reasons, all the safety measures for entering cham-
bers must be taken (including testing the air to ensure that it is safe, and forced (mechanical) ventilation of the tank
if necessary, safety harnesses, tripod and look-out personnel.)
WARNING
Live parts!
Heed the following points when working on electrical cables and connections:
The national safety regulations apply for all electrical work on the system.
The system must be supplied through a residual current protection device (RCD) with residual current of not
more than 30 mA.
CAUTION
Note the structural calculations for traffic safety. Chamber installation for load class D makes a load distribution plate
made of reinforced concrete necessary (exception: not necessary for standard road construction).
Determine the required load class and structural calculations in accordance with the environment / use condi-
tions.
Request an appropriate reinforcement drawing from the KESSEL hotline.
NOTICE
Contaminated surface!
The system and surroundings can be contaminated by germs.
Do not store or consume any food in the same room.
Avoid touching the surface, remove visible dirt.
After work is complete, wash your hands.
NOTICE
Disconnect system from energy sources!
Ensure that the electrical components are disconnected from the electrical power supply during the work.
Prescribed personal protective equipment!
Always use/wear protective equipment when installing or carrying out maintenance work on the system.
Protective clothing
Protective gloves
Safety footwear
Face protection
DANGER
If the system is installed in a chamber, accident prevention measures must be taken (testing the air to make sure it
is safe or mechanical ventilation of the chamber, safety harnesses, tripod and look-out personnel, etc.).
WARNING
Protect against unauthorised use!
Pumps can start up unexpectedly.
Mount the control unit in a lockable outdoor cabinet or in an area not accessible to the public.
DANGER
Slipping and drowning hazard!
Steps can be wet and slippery.
Pump out the system before entering it.
Ensure that no wastewater enters the system once pumped out, and during entry.
Do not undo pump fixings (between pump handle and pressure pipe). Unwanted lever effects can occur on the pressure
pipe connection, which causes damage to the piping.
It must be ensured that the electric cables as well as all other electrical system components are in a faultless condition. In
case of damage, the system may on no account be put into operation or must be stopped immediately.
