– the spark plug must spark. To check this, remove the spark plug, re-connect it to the power cable, let
the metal part go to earth and turn the engine pulley as if to start it. If no sparks are seen between the
two electrodes, check the spark plug cable connector and if current still does not arrive, change the
spark plug. If even this makes no difference, the fault must be in the electrical system; contact the
nearest service centre or a specialized repair shop.
2) The gears do not engage:
– regulate the clutch by unscrewing the adjustment screw until the clutch has a good clearance. Take
care not to eliminate all the play, as the cable must never be too tight.
3) Cutter bar:
– check that the ledger plates are not too tight.
4) Check if the ground is stony; if so pull down the slides for regulation of cut height to raise the cutter
bar and prevent little stones getting between fingers and blades.
5) Once the grass has been cut, it must fall in front of the machine and not to its sides; if the grass is very
thick and there are discharge problems, remove the window forming guides (only on the middle cut
fingers cutter bar cm. 110).
Obviously, while working in such conditions, the two windrows cannot be made and grass which has
been cut must be separated from the grass still to be cut by hand, in order to avoid further obstructions.
In this case use of a Mulching or ESM cutter bar which avoids these problems is highly recommended.
LONG IDLE PERIODS
If the machine is not going to be used for a long period, it is advisable to take these precautions:
– empty the fuel tank;
– empty the oil from the engine;
– lubricate the cylinder by pouring a spoonful of AGIP SAE 20 oil through the spark plug hole and letting
the engine tick over for a short time;
– wash the engine and the machine carefully;
– oil the cutter bar.
Proper maintenance and lubrication help to keep the machine constantly in perfect working order.
4 STROKE ENGINE - As regards lubrication intervals follow the directions in the "Engine operator's
booklet". In general users are advised to check the oil level every 4 working hours and to change it every
50 hours. Always use SAE 40 engine oil in summer and SAE 20 in winter, or 15W40.
Check the air filter cartridge every 8 working hours or even more frequently if the conditions are dusty.
Do not clean the cartridge with compressed air jets; if clogged it must be replaced.
Keep the engine cooling air intake grille clean.
Check regularly that the fins of the cylinder head and cylinder are not dirty by unscrewing the casings;
follow the directions in the engine booklet.
GEARBOX - Check the oil level every 50 working hours (fig. 4) by removing the cap and that, when the
machine is in horizontal position, the oil level is between the two grooves. If necessary, add 85 W/90
gearbox oil. Change the oil once a year.
HELPFUL RULES FOR GOOD USE:
1) Important! Do not damage the machine's implement centring device; keep it clean and lubricated.
2) Never leave the machine out in the rain.
3) Keep the snap coupling lubricated.
4) Do not force the gear if gears do not engage: while inserting the gear press the clutch lever a little.
