5.
Push the socket with rubber retaining plate and screw the socket tightly onto the retaining plate using the supplied
nuts and screws:
a)
Pay special attention to the right position of rubber retaining plate,
b)
Put the cable set gently to avoid any folds and to secure it from possible wiping.
6.
Lay the end of the cable strand with the 16-pin connection to the corresponding 16-pin connector of the same
colour behind the left-side boot cladding.
a)
Open the vehicle-side 16-pole socket housing and connect it to the matching counter pieces of the cable set.
7.
Connect the brown wires to a suitable ground point (if necessary, drill a 3-mm-hole and attach the leads using the
supplied sheet-metal screw. Do not treat the hole with anticorrosive agent).
8.
Trailer power supply:
3-pin connector housing (red/blue, yellow, and white/brown cables) is provided for expanded socket functions. Put
this part of cable set behind the trim. To expand socket functions it is necessary to order the following parts:
Function "current supply and earth"
Function "current supply, charge line and earth" part no. 99 06 99
Note: for Ford Focus 3-door from model year 01.01 an extension set is required°
Assembly instruction for the customer.
Secure the cable set with supplied cable ties, re-install all trims and other parts which were removed during
installation.
Connect the earth lead to the battery and check all vehicle functions with connected trailer or suitable testing
device.
