BEFORE YOU BEGIN
There are many factors which determine the choice of
the right sliding gate actuator. Assuming the gate is
working properly, most effort is required for setting it into
motion from a stationary position. Once the gate is in motion,
considerably less force is usually required.
Size of gate: The size of the gate is one very important
factor. A light, long gate (length > 5 metre) requires much
more force to set it into motion than a short, heavy gate.
Wind can slow the gate down or distort it, causing a marked
increase in the force required to move it.
Weight of gate: The specified weight of the gate
(500, 1000 or 1500 kg) only gives a rough indication of the
output required from the drive.
For example, a light door which does not slide easily will
require a more powerful drive than a heavy door which does
slide easily.
Temperature: Low outdoor temperatures can make it more
difficult or impossible to set the gate into motion (e.g.
because of soil changes). Such cases will thus also lead to
a requirement for a heavier drive.
High outdoor temperatures may cause the temperature cut-
off (at about 135 °C) to be triggered earlier.
Operating frequency, duty cycle: The sliding gate
actuator has a maximum duty cycle of 50% (e.g. 50% of
one hour).
NB: The drive is not designed for long-term operation at the
maximum duty cycle. If the drive overheats, it will switch
itself off until the cut-in temperature is reached. The outdoor
temperature and the gate characteristics are important
factors in determining the actual duty cycle.
Safety: A sliding gate actuator should be protected with
flashing lights, contact strips and if necessary with
additional photoelectric barriers. In any case, please make
sure that you comply with local standards and regulations.
Control unit: The control unit GOC2A is specially designed
with safety in mind, and can open doors up to about
12 metre long (travel time 2 minutes).

INSTALLATION
-
Preparations: Before installation, please check contents
of packaging.
Ensure your gate equipment functions correctly. The gate
must move smoothly without jerking and must not stick at any
point. Take into account the fact that the ground level may
raise by several centimetres in the winter.
To avoid undesirable jerking movement, the gate should be
stable and should have as little play as possible. The easier
the gate movement, the finer the torque adjustment.

ASSEMBLY OVERVIEW
The assembly process is shown in the illustrations. The drive
must be mounted behind the wall, so that no part of it is
visible in the gate opening. The motor is mounted on the
embedded base plate. The toothed rack should be mounted
on the gate with the aid of the mounting bolts.
ASSEMBLY DIMENSIONS
Determine the appropriate height for mounting the toothed
rack on the gate, and determine the assembly dimensions
for the motor unit and base plate. If the gate design is
unsuitable for direct mounting of the toothed rack, a mounting
support (angular steel section, moulded tube, etc.) must be
mounted first.
ASSEMBLY OF DRIVE BASE PLATE
The drive base plate can be embedded in concrete, mounted
with dowels or welded on to the underlying surface.
ASSEMBLY
The drive is now placed on the threaded bolts of the base
plate. The height should be adjusted so that the distance
between the cogwheel and the toothed rack is about 1 - 2cm.
The long holes can be used to position the drive in relation to
the toothed rack so as to comply with the assembly
dimensions.
