MAKING MEASUREMENTS
a) Testing of audio or video signals
Connect the signal source, e.g., surveillance camera or microphone, to a suitable measuring
cable provided. The measuring cable must then be connected to the transmitter "10/11" using
the RJ45/RJ11 plug.
Make sure that all the circuit parts, cables, wires and components and other objects
of measurement are disconnected from the voltage and discharged.
The signal source, respectively the device under test may thereby provide on the audio/video
line a maximum voltage of 12 V and a maximum current intensity of 1 A.
The connection to other sources, respectively lines having higher voltage and
current intensity is not allowed. Also, on the test lines to be connected should not be
applied further higher external voltages.
Press the power button "6" to switch the device on. The operation indicator is now illuminated
and the LCD display is switched on.
Check your video signal with the display and the quality of the audio signal with the integrated
loudspeaker. Press the button "7" to switch the loudspeaker on and button "8" to switch it off.
To supply voltage to your video equipment, if necessary, you can use the power
adapter of the transmitter or an additional power adapter.
b) Cable detector of audio/video/data cables, e.g., telephone cables, LAN cables
The line to be tested must not be live or connected to other sources/equipment.
This may result in damages to the tester or other equipment.
W hilst testing the line, the transmitter will automatically provide a sufficient test
voltage; therefore no additional external power may be applied.
Connect the cable to be tested to the RJ11 measuring cable using the alligator clips provided.
Then, they must be connected to the RJ11 connector of the transmitter "11" or you can con-
nect the cable directly to the input.
Make sure that all the circuit parts, switches and components and other objects of
measurement are disconnected from the voltage and discharged.
Press the power button "6" to switch the device on. The operation indicator is now illuminated
and the LCD display is switched on. Now, press the SCAN button "9" to change to the scan
mode. The LED "5" now flashes, the scan process is active and signals are sent from the
transmitter.
Activate the "Receiver" as well by pressing the SCAN button "13". The receiver is now also in
scan mode. This is indicated by an illuminated blue LED.
Move the receiver with the test tip "18" closely along the cables to be tested.
The cable generating the loudest sound is the desired cable connected to the transmitter via
connector "11".
During searching, adjust the volume control "14" to adjust the volume perfectly to the local
conditions.
During the SCAN mode, the display "1" of the transmitter is switched off since it is not
in use. To return to mode a) to test audio and video signals, press the SCAN button
"9" at the transmitter again.
AUTO POWER OFF
All of the equipment switches off automatically, if no function is active or no buttons is pressed
for 30 minutes.
INDICATION OF BATTERY CONDITION OF THE TRANSMITTER
Battery/rechargeable battery condition
normal voltage
low voltage
Charging process active
Charging process complete
No rechargeable battery present for charging
Only rechargeable batteries must be charged, see section "Inserting/replac-
ing batteries/rechargeable batteries". To do this, connect the power adapter
with connector "19" at the transmitter. At the end of the charging process
(constant light of charge display "4"), disconnect the power adapter from the
device and the mains socket and store it carefully.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Apart from the occasional battery change, the meter is maintenance-free for you.
Never clean the product when it is turned on. Use a clean, dry, soft cloth for cleaning. Do
not use aggressive cleaning agents, as these can cause discolouration. To prevent scratch
marks, do not press too strongly on the surface when cleaning.
DISPOSAL
a) General
Please dispose of the unserviceable product according to the relevant statutory
requirements. Remove inserted batteries/rechargeable batteries and dispose of
them separate from the product according to section b).
b) Batteries
As the end user, you are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all spent batteries/
rechargeable batteries; disposal of them in the household waste is prohibited.
Batteries/rechargeable batteries containing hazardous substances are labelled with
these symbols to indicate that the disposal of them in the household waste is forbid-
den. The symbols of the critical heavy metals are: Cd = Cadmium, Hg = Mercury,
Pb = Lead.
You can return your used batteries and rechargeable batteries at the end of their lifetime free
of charge to the official collection points in your municipality, in our stores, or anywhere where
batteries or rechargeable batteries are sold.
