2. Store the device in a safe place. Open the petrol
cap slowly in order to release any pressure that may
have built up in the petrol tank. In order to avoid fire
hazards, make sure that you are at least 3 metres
from the refuelling area before starting the device.
3. Switch the device off, before setting it down.
4. Always hold the device firmly with both hands. In
doing so thumbs and fingers should wrap completely
around the handle.
5. Take care that bolts and fastening elements are
firmly tightened. Never operate the device if it has
not been correctly set up or is not complete or se-
curely assembled.
6. Take care that the handles are dry and clean and
that there is no petrol mix on them.
7. Guide the strimming head at the desired height.
Avoid touching small objects (e.g. stones) with the
strimming head. When mowing on a slope always
stay downhill of the cutting device. Never cut or strim
on a slick or slippery hill or slope.
8. Check the area to be mowed, solid objects such as
stones, metal parts etc. can be picked up and ejected
at high speed. Danger of injury!
9. Keep all parts of the body and all of your clothing
far from the strimming head, when starting or run-
ning the motor. Before starting the motor do not forget
that the strimming head must not come into contact
with any obstacle.
10. Always turn off the motor before working on the cut-
ting device.
11. Store the device and accessories securely, pro-
tected from naked flames and sources or heat/
sparks such as gas water heaters, clothes driers, oil
stoves or portable radiators etc.
12. Always keep the protective cover, strimming head
and the motor free of mowing residue.
13. Only appropriately trained adults are permitted to
operate, adjust and service the device.
14. If you are not familiar with the trimmer practice the
handling with the motor turned off (AUS/OFF).
15. Always check the area to be mowed, solid ob-
jects such as metal parts, bottles, stones etc. can be
caught up and ejected at high speed and can cause
serious injuries to the operator and can damage the
device permanently. If you should inadvertently touch
a solid object with the trimmer then turn the motor off
immediately and check the device for damage. Never
use the device when it is damaged or appears to be
faulty.
16. Always trim and cut in the upper speed range. Do
not let the motor run at a low speed at the start of
mowing or during trimming.
17. Use the device exclusively for its intended pur-
pose, such as trimming and mowing weeds.
18. Never hold the strimming head above knee height
when in operation.
19. Do not use the device if bystanders or animals are
in the immediate vicinity. Maintain a minimum dis-
tance of 15 m between the operator and other per-
sons or animals when mowing. When mowing down
to ground level please maintain a minimum distance
of 30 m.
20. When mowing on a slope always stay downhill of
the cutting device. Only work on slopes and hills if
you have firm and safe ground underfoot.
Additional instructions
1. DO NOT USE ANY FUEL other than that recom-
mended in the operating instructions. Always ob-
serve the instructions in the „Fuel and oil" section of
these operating instructions. Do not use petrol that
has not been correctly mixed with 2-stroke engine oil.
Otherwise, there is a risk of permanent damage to
the motor, whereby the manufacturer's guarantee will
be void.
2. DO NOT SMOKE whilst filling the device with petrol
or operating the device.
3. DO NOT USE THE DEVICE WITHOUT ITS EX-
HAUST and correctly installed exhaust guard.
4. DO NOT TOUCH THE EXHAUST, either with hands
or your body. Hold the device such that thumbs and
fingers wrap around the handles.
5. DO NOT USE THE DEVICE IN AN UNCOMFORT-
ABLE POSITION, do not use when off balance, with
outstretched arms or with one hand. Always use both
hands to operate and in doing so wrap the fingers
and thumbs around the handles.
6. Always keep the strimming head on the ground when
the device is in operation.
7. Use the grass trimmer / motor scythe exclusively for
its intended purpose, i.e. trimming grass and mow-
ing.
8. Do not use the device for extended periods of time,
take regular breaks.
9. DO NOT USE THE DEVICE WHILST UNDER THE
INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL OR DRUGS.
10. ONLY USE THE DEVICE IF THE PROTECTIVE
COVER AND/OR EQUIPMENT IS INSTALLED AND
IN GOOD CONDITION.
11. Any changes, additions or removals carried out on
the product can endanger personal safety and voids
the manufacturer's guarantee.
12. Never use the device near to easily combustible liq-
uids or gases, either in enclosed spaces or outside.
This can result in explosions and/or fires.
13. DO NOT USE ANY OTHER CUTTING TOOLS. For
your own safety use only accessories and ancillary
equipment that are listed in the operating instructions
or that are recommended or listed by the manufactur-
er. The use of tools or accessories other than those
recommended in the operating instructions or in the
catalogue can present a risk of personal injury for
you.
Safety measures for handling the cutting blade
1. OBSERVE ALL WARNINGS and instructions for op-
erating and fitting the cutting blade.
2. The cutting blade can kick back off objects if it is
not able to cut through them or mow them. This
can result in injuries to arms and legs. Make sure
that bystanders and animals remain at least 15 m
away from the working area in all directions. If the de-
vice comes into contact with foreign bodies then stop
the motor immediately and bring the cutting blade to
