6. Faults
This chapter helps to summarize the operations after a minor problem has occurred with the instrument.
All possible problems are listed and also, their possible solutions.
6.1 General malfunction and its solutions
The equipment does not turn on:
-Check if the power line is disconnected
-Check that the cable is correctly connected both to the equipment and to the electrical network
The thermostatic bath does not heat:
-Check that it is properly connected to the main body
-Replace the fuse. If the malfunction occurs again, contact the supplier that provided the equipment
The elevator does not work correctly:
-Contact directly with the supplier who provided the equipment
The bottle does not rotate properly:
-Adjust a rotation speed of 0 rpm and, increase the speed of rotation slowly until the rotation motor
rotates the bottle
-Restart the instrument
The system is leaking or spilling liquid:
-Grease the joints at the points of contact between materials
-Check the connection of the tubes and adjust them correctly
-The pipe is broken. In this case, replace the tubes
-The sealing system is broken or has not been installed correctly. Check the sealing system explained in
chapters 5.1.4 and 5.1.5
-In case you do not fix the fault, replace the vacuum seal or condenser seal
6.2. Malfunction of the vacuum system and its solutions
It does not manage to perform the vacuum in the whole system:
-Please check and make sure that all the joints are greased and perfectly fitted
-If you are using a water vacuum pump to perform the vacuum, open the tap connected to the water
vacuum pump to the maximum
The distillation gradually disappears:
-Manually decrease the pressure until the distillation starts again
-If the problem persists, stop the rotation and the pump, open the vacuum valve and check and make
sure that there isn't any leaks and that all the joints are greased and perfectly fitted
The distillation stops completely:
-Stop the rotation and the pump, open the vacuum valve and check and make sure that all the joints are
greased and perfectly fitted
