How are these conditions achieved?
-Set the thermostatic bath to 60°C
-Set the cooling temperature to a maximum of 20°C
-With a gauge, grant a speed of approximately 40-50 l/h of cold water through the condenser
-Define the vacuum in such a way that the boiling point of the solvent is 40°C
Note: The corresponding pressure can be found in the table of solvents in chapter 12
Advantages associated with a bath temperature of 60°C:
-The evaporation bottle can be removed without risk of burns
-The rate of water evaporation in the bath is low (low loss of energy)
-The thermostatic bath energy is used with a good degree of efficiency
This rule can also be applied at low bath temperatures, such as:
-Cooling water: 0°C
-Steam: 20°C
-Thermostatic bath: 40°C
5.2.7 Distilled
To start operating with the instrument, comply with the following conditions:
-All electrical connections must be connected
-All sealing is installed correctly
-All joints or contact parts must be greased
To start operating the instrument, follow these indications:
-Turn on the equipment
-Allow cold water to flow through the condenser at a maximum temperature of 20°C and a flow rate of
40-50 l/h
-Set the temperature of the thermostatic bath to the desired value as described above and wait for the
bath to reach the target temperature
-Fill the evaporator bottle with the solution to be distilled and make sure it does not exceed a maximum
weight of 3 kg
-Assemble the bottle, using tweezers and grease or Vaseline
Note: Choose the pressure so that the boiling point of the solvent is 40°C (see the table of solvents, in
chapter 12)
-Adjust the rotation speed
If these operations above are normal, the device is ready to operate. If not, the device may be
damaged during transportation, please contact manufacturer/supplier for technical support.
Warning
It is forbidden to transfer the flask while the
instrument is in use
