Operating Modes). The bottom of
this model is marked with a red dot.
Place the model on the track with the
red dot pointing to the rail that is not
connected to the catenary power
supply (Fig. 5).
Hint: To operate multiple trains on
the same track, we recommend the
LGB Multi-Train System (see Multi-
Train System). With the Multi-Train
System, you can use an unpowered
catenary system for prototypical
appearance.
CAUTION! This model may be powe-
red with a catenary on analog lay-
outs only. For operation with the
digital Multi-Train System, the model
must use track power. Otherwise,
dangerously high voltages may result.
Multi-Train System
This model has a direct decoder
interface. For Multi-Train System
operation, it can be equipped with
one LGB 55021 MTS Loco Decoder
II. The MTS Decoder Interface Cable
(55026) is not required. This model
is not designed for use with the LGB
55027 MTS Loco Decoder III.
We strongly recommend decoder
installation by an LGB service station.
For more information, contact your
authorized LGB retailer or an LGB
service station (see Authorized Service).
Hint: If this model is equipped with a
decoder, the digital/analog DIP swit-
ches on the loco circuit board will be
set to OFF. The DIP switches should
remain in this setting, even if the
model is used on an analog layout.
Lighting
This model has automatic directional
lanterns: one white lantern on the
front and a red taillight on the rear. If
you run the streetcar with an atta-
ched car, you can switch off the tail-
8
light (see Operating Modes).
This model has "flat" multi-purpose
sockets, with removable covers, on
the front and rear of the streetcar
(Fig. 6). These sockets can be used
to provide track power to cars with
lighting or sound electronics.
To remove the cover of the socket,
pull it straight out. If the cover is
tight, gently use a small straight
screwdriver to pry it out. (Do not pull
out the rectangular outer housing.)
Sound
To equip this model with sound, we
recommend the following products:
- 65004 European Electric Loco
Sound Unit
- 65011 Sound Unit Power Storage
The 65011 is not needed when opera-
ting with the LGB Multi-Train System.
If there is not enough space inside
the locomotive or if you prefer not to
disassemble the loco, you can place
the Sound Unit in a freight or pas-
senger car and connect it to the loco-
motive via the multi-purpose socket.
Power Supply
Attention! For safety and reliability,
operate this model with LGB power
supplies (transformers, power packs
and controls) only. The use of non-LGB
power supplies will void your warranty.
Use this model with LGB power sup-
plies with an output of at least 1
amp. For more information on LGB
power supplies for indoor, outdoor
and multi-train operation, see the
LGB catalog.
Attention! After extended operation,
this model may leave carbon dust or
other debris around the track. This
dust and debris can stain carpet and
other materials. Consider this when
setting up your layout. LGB are not
liable for any damages.
