Voice Transmission System
These instructions are intended for users without
any specific technical knowledge. Please read the
instructions carefully prior to operation and keep
them for later reference.
1 Applications
In combination with one or multiple receivers ATS-50R,
the transmitter ATS-50T provides a mobile wireless sys-
tem for transmitting spoken language, e. g. for guided
tours, lectures in different languages or wireless com-
mand transmission. For wireless transmission, 40 chan-
nels are available in the frequency range 863 – 865 MHz;
up to 12 of these channels may be used at the same time
without mutual interference. The transmission range de-
pends on local conditions and may reach 100 m as a
maximum.
2 Important Notes
The units correspond to all relevant directives of the EU
and are therefore marked with
.
•
The units are suitable for indoor use only. Protect
them against dripping water and splash water, high
air humidity and heat (admissible ambient tempera-
ture: 0 – 40 °C).
•
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth; never use water
or chemicals.
•
No guarantee claims for the units and no liability for
any resulting personal damage or material damage
will be accepted if the units are used for other pur-
poses than originally intended, if they are not correctly
connected or operated, or if they are not repaired in
an expert way.
If the units are to be put out of operation
definitively, take them to a local recycling
plant for a disposal which is not harmful to
the environment.
2.1 Conformity and approval
Herewith, MONACOR INTERNATIONAL declare that the
units ATS-50R and ATS-50T comply with the directive
2014 / 53 / EU. The EU declarations of conformity are
available on the Internet:
www.monacor.com
The units are generally approved for operation in EU
and EFTA countries; they are licence-free and require no
registration.
3 Before Operation
3.1 Inserting / Replacing the batteries
To insert or replace the batteries, remove the cover of the
battery compartment on the rear side of the unit. Insert a
battery of size AA as indicated in the compartment, then
replace the cover. If the unit is not in use for a longer

period of time, remove the battery to prevent damage
to the unit due to battery leakage.
Never put discharged batteries / defective re-
chargeable batteries in the household waste.
To protect the environment, always take them
to a special waste disposal, e. g. collection
container at your retailer.
3.2 Recharging the batteries
Instead of batteries, rechargeable NiMH batteries can be
used for the transmitter and the receiver. To recharge
the batteries, the charging case ATS-25C is ideal. Put
the receiver and the transmitter in the charging case,
including the batteries inserted.
CAUTION! If you use non-rechargeable batteries for the
units, never put them in the charging case. If you try to
recharge non-rechargeable batteries, they may leak or
even explode.
3.3 Connecting the microphone or an audio unit
and connecting the earphone
1) The transmitter (grey housing) is equipped with an
integrated microphone (5). It is also possible to con-
nect the tie-clip microphone provided to the jack
(4); the integrated microphone will be switched off.
Use the clip to attach the microphone to your clothes
(e. g. tie, lapel).
When using the transmitter for wireless trans-
mission of line audio signals, connect an audio unit
(CD/ MP3 player, radio etc.) to the jack
the microphone signal, press the button
2) Connect the earphone provided to the jack
the receiver (black housing) and attach it to your ear.
4 Operation
1) First switch on the receiver only: Keep the button
pressed until the display (10) shows "On".
2) Press the button
channel on the receiver.
Note: Five seconds after switching on and five seconds after
pressing a button, the buttons will be locked automatically:
The symbol appears on the display. To unlock, keep both
buttons pressed until the symbol disappears.
The LED (7) must not light up. If it lights up, interfer-
ence or signals from other transmitters are received.
In this case, use a different channel.
3) If multiple ATS-50 systems are used at the same time
for transmitting different kinds of information or dif-
ferent languages, set a different transmission channel
for each separate system. You will be able to make
12 voice transmissions at the same time if you use the
channels that are printed in bold in the table.
There are two channel groups for setting the channel:
G1 with all 40 channels
G2 with the channels printed in bold only
To switch from one group to the other, press the but-
ton
to switch off the unit (keep the button pressed

4) Switch on the transmitter; the LED (7) lights up. Set
the transmitter to the transmission channel of the re-
ceiver. Once a signal is received, the LED (7) of the
receiver will light up.
Notes:
– If the LED (7) of the transmitter or receiver is red instead
of blue, replace or recharge the battery.
– If no signal is received for 20 minutes [in this case, the
LED (7) of the receiver fails to light up], the receiver will be
switched off automatically to save the battery.
5) Use the control
(2) on the receiver to set the de-
sired volume for the earphone.
Caution! Never adjust the earphone to a very high
volume. Permanent high volumes may damage your
hearing!
6) To mute the microphone signal, press the button
(3) on the transmitter. The LED (7) keeps flashing
as an indication.
7) To switch off the units, keep the button
pressed until the display shows "OF".
8) Set the switch (1) inside the battery compartment
– on the transmitter: upper position = high transmis-
sion power for a long range but high battery con-
sumption; lower position = low transmission power
for low battery consumption but short range
– on the receiver: upper position = long distance be-
tween the transmitter and the receiver; lower posi-
tion = short distance
