Information zum Vorbild.
Für die Gebirgsstrecke Freilassing-Berchtesgaden wurden 1914
von den Königlich Bayerischen Staatseisenbahnen
(K.Bay.Sts.B.) vier spezielle Personenzuglokomotiven beschafft.
Der Antrieb erfolgte von einem Wechselstrom-Reihenschluß-
motor über schräge Treibstangen auf eine Blindwelle und über
Kuppelstangen auf die drei Treibachsen. Mit einer Leistung von
690 kW erreichten die Maschinen in der Ebene eine Höchstge-
schwindigkeit von 80 km/h, sie waren aber auch für kurven- und
steigungsreiche Strecken mit Rampen bis zu 40 ‰ Steigung
konzipiert.
Für die Zugheizung war ein koksbefeuerter Heizkessel einge-
baut, dadurch entstand die auffällige einseitige Anordnung der
Scherenstromabnehmer.
Von der DRG wurden die vier Lokomotiven als Baureihe E 36
übernommen. Aufgrund ihrer guten Laufeigenschaften waren sie
fast 25 Jahre in Betrieb und wurden erst 1941 ausgemustert. Die
3602 wurde nach ihrer Ausmusterung zum Schneepflug Mü 6453
für das Bw Garmisch-Partenkirchen umgebaut.

Information about the Prototype.
In 1914 four special passenger locomotives were purchased
by the Royal Bavarian State Railways (K.Bay. Sts.B.) for the
mountain route from Freilassing to Berchtesgaden.
Propulsion was provided by a AC motor wired in series and
connected to diagonal drive rods connected inturn to a
jackshaft and driving rods that powered the three driving
axles. These units had an output of 690 kilowatts (925 hp) an
reached a maximum speed of 80 km/h (50 mph) on level track;
they were also designed for routes with many curves and
grades with the grades reaching 4.0 %.
A coal fired boiler was built into the locomotive for heating the
cars in the train, thus resulting in the noticeable arrangement
of the pantographs at one end of the locomotive.
The DRG designated the four locomotives as the class E 36.
They performed so well that they were in service almost
25 years and weren't retired until 1941. After being retired
locomotive 3602 was converted into snow plow Mü 6453 for
the Garmisch-Partenkirchen District.
