Lubrication
The axle bearings and the side rod bearings should be lubricated occasionally with a
small amount of Märklin-Oil (7149).
Replacing Light Bulbs
Headlights (front/rear): Remove the ring on the outside of the lantern glass. Carefully
pry the glass from the lantern. Using tweezers pull the light bulb from the socket.
Insert a new light bulb. Reassemble the model.
Interior lighting: Using tweezers pull the light bulb from the socket Insert a new light
bulb.
Replacing Traction Tires
– Loosen the hex head screw on the rear driving wheel.
– Remove the side rod.
– Remove the old traction tire by using a small flat-blade screwdriver: Pry the old
traction tire out of the groove on the driving wheel.
– Carefully push the new traction tire over the wheel and insert it into the groove on
the wheel.
– Check to make sure that the traction tire is properly seated.
– Reassemble the model.
Replacing the Smoke Unit
– Pull the cover out of the smoke stack (Fig. 4).
– Pull the damaged smoke unit (smoke stack insert) out of the smoke stack with
needle nose pliers or with a pair of tweezers (Fig. 5).
– Cut the wire in two.
– Connect the wire to the new smoke unit. To do this, twist the wire ends (first strip
some insulation from them) together and insulate (Fig. 6).
– Push the new smoke unit into the smoke stack.
– Reassemble the model.
