CHARGING THE BATTERY PACK
Battery packs are shipped in a low charge condition to
prevent possible problems. Therefore, you should charge
them until the green LED on the front of the charger comes
on.
NOTE: If the red light flashes, it is either evaluating the
battery or it has a temperature issue.
If the red light flashes for less than 5 seconds, it is
evaluating the battery. If it flashes red for longer than 5
seconds, it either has a low voltage or a temperature issue.
In the case of low voltage, the charger will charge the
battery slowly. This process may take some time (up to 30
minutes). In the case of a temperature issue, the charger
will protect the battery and wait until the battery is cool
enough to begin charging. This process can potentially
take up to 5 hours.
CHARGING
Only charge 58 V ECHO lithium-ion battery packs with this
charger. Make sure the power supply is normal household
voltage, 220-240 V, 50/60 Hz only. Make sure the battery
pack latch snaps into place and the battery pack is secured
in the charger before beginning operation.
1. Connect the charger to the power supply.
2. Place the battery pack in the charger, aligning the
raised rib on the battery pack with the groove in the
charger.
3. Slide in the battery pack to be sure contacts on the
battery pack engage properly with contacts in the
charger.
NOTE: After charging is complete, the green charger
LED will remain on until the battery pack is removed
from the charger or charger is disconnected from the
power supply. The battery pack will become slightly
warm to the touch while charging. This is normal and
does not indicate a problem. Do not place the charger
and the battery pack in an area of extreme heat or cold.
They will work best at normal room temperature.
NOTE: The charger and battery pack should be placed
in a location where the temperature is more than 10°C
but less than 38°C.
4. When batteries become fully charged, unplug the
charger from the power supply and remove the battery
pack. To remove the battery pack from the charger,
depress the battery pack latch.
HOT BATTERY PACK
When using a tool continuously, the batteries in the battery
pack will become hot. You should let a hot battery pack
cool down for approximately 30 minutes before attempting
to recharge.
NOTE: This situation only occurs when continuous use
of a tool causes the batteries to become hot. It does not
occur under normal circumstances. Refer to CHARGING
THE BATTERY PACK for normal recharging of batteries.
If the charger does not charge the battery pack under
normal circumstances, return both the battery pack and
the charger to an ECHO service centre for electrical check.
COLD BATTERY PACK
If the battery pack is below normal temperature range, the
charger red LED will begin flashing and the green LED
will be off. When the battery warms to a temperature of
more than 0°C, the charger will automatically begin charge
mode.

BATTERY PROTECTION FEATURES
ECHO 58 V lithium-ion batteries are designed with features
that protect the lithium-ion cells and maximize battery life.
If the product stops during use, release the trigger to reset
and resume operation. If the product still does not work, the
battery needs to be recharged.
WARNING!
If at any point during the charging process none of
the LEDs are lit, remove the battery pack from the
charger to avoid damaging the product. Do not insert
another battery. Return the charger and battery to an
ECHO service centre for service or replacement.
LI-ON BATTERIES
The rechargeable batteries are partially charged. The LED
on the battery indicates the state of charge.
The optimum temperature for charging the battery is
between 10°C and 38°C.
If it is not used for long periods, the rechargeable battery
will switch to the non-operative state.
When fully discharged, the rechargeable battery switches
off automatically (depth discharge not possible).
Under extreme circumstances, the internal temperature
of the battery could become too high. If this happens, the
battery will shut down.
Place the battery on the charger to charge and reset it.
As a general principle, if the electric tool should fail to work
after inserting the rechargeable battery, then the battery
