Installation Options
In any configuration, be sure the blue end of the Controller faces the water INLET
and the grey end of the Controller faces the water OUTLET.
Option 1: Install In-Line (Horizontal or Vertical Offset)
NOTE: In-line installation requires a minimum clearance of 13 in. for the Controller and an additional 5 in if additional adaptors are
needed. Allow additional space for any other adaptors (not included).
For these installations use 1-in. unions (not included) or the included 1-in. female by 3/4-in. male adaptors. The 3/4-in. male adaptors
require two (one for each end) 3/4-in. female adaptors. If installing on Pex, CPVC or other tubing, please see Installation Option 3
(Flexible Line).
Fittings: Two 3/4-in. female fittings, Copper, ProPress or SharkBite
1. Install the optional couplings (included) using the
thickest possible rubber washers (included).
Use a smooth-jawed wrench for tightening.
Do not use force or overtighten.
Use teflon tape only if needed. Liquid thread sealer
is not recommended.
2. Use the two rounded rubber gaskets (included) between the
Controller or coupling and the copper adaptor compression
nuts (not included).
3. Put the Controller in place and tighten the compression nuts
between the Controller and the water lines. Make sure the
Buoy logo is facing outward and the LED is visible.
4. Make sure the Controller is securely braced.
Horizontal Offset
Horizontal offset from a vertical inlet. Example shown is larger than
necessary but makes use of the two 1-in. female by 3/4-in. male
adaptors. Requires proper pipe support on the wall. Use of a 3/4-in.
street elbow can reduce the number of 90° elbows needed.
Fittings: Six (6) 90° elbows, two (2) 3/4-in. to 3/4-in. adaptors
1. Make sure the Buoy logo is facing outward and the LED is visible.
2. Make sure the Controller is securely braced.
Vertical Offset
Vertical offset from a vertical inlet. Example shown is larger than necessary but
makes use of the two 3/4-in. to 1-in. ProPress fittings. Requires proper pipe
support on the wall. Use of a female threaded 3/4 in. street elbow can reduce the
number of 90° elbows needed.
Fittings: Six (6) 90° elbows, two (2) 3/4-in. ProPress to 3/4-in. adaptors
Make sure the Controller is securely braced.
1. Unit should be mounted with the water flow arrow pointing up (light blue side
facing the ground)
2. Make sure the Buoy logo is facing outward and the LED is visible.
3. Make sure the Controller is securely braced.
