If installing indoors, and plugging the Controller in permanently, locate a nearby 110v power outlet. If there is no convenient outlet,
or installing outdoors, the fully charged battery should power the Controller for about one year with normal use.
NOTE: The Controller cannot be installed with the battery door facing out toward a user in either vertical or horizontal configuration.

Turn off water at the home's main supply valve. Verify it is off by trying both hot and cold water in the house.
Check that the water heater doesn't need to be isolated or drained to prevent drain-out.
Drain water from the entire house via any nearby hose bib.
STOP. Be sure that the homeowner has completed all steps of their checklist. The Buoy Controller should now be with you at the
installation location and on the home's WiFi network. If there are any problems, contact customer support before cutting the pipe.
Protect the Controller from scratches during setup by laying it on a soft surface or cardboard.
Determine which installation option is the right one for the location. See options on pages 4–5.
Measure and mark the pipe for cutting.
Cut the pipe at your mark using the appropriate tool.
