Getting started, Connection via RJ45
• Connect the camera's RJ45 connector to a 1:1 connected network cable and its net-
work, e.g. a network switch.
• Connect the low-voltage socket of the camera to the corresponding round plug on
the enclosed power adapter. Insert the plug-in power adapter into a mains socket,
the "Power"-LED on the front of the camera lights up.
• Insert the CD provided in the appropriate drive of your computer. If the installation
software on the CD does not start automatically, you must start the installation pro-
gramme on the CD manually. At the time of writing this guide this could be found in
the main directory of the DVD (Program name "Autorun.exe").
Follow the program's instructions.
Be aware that the names and descriptions of the installation procedure, as de-
scribed here, may be changed in newer versions of the software. In this case please
observe the accompanying English language operating manual on the DVD (PDF).
• Start the newly installed software ("IP Discovery Tool"). It will search for available
cameras in the network. When the camera appears, with its corresponding IP ad-
dress, double click on it or select the camera and click "Connect".
Please note:
In your network a DHCP server must be active (e.g. the DHCP server of a router).
The PC must be confi gured so that it assigns an IP address automatically. The
camera is also assigned an IP address by the DHCP server.
If no DHCP server is present, the camera has the IP address 192.168.1.200 (net-
work mask 255.255.255.0). It is important that this IP address is not being
used by another device on the network. Otherwise, no access to the camera
is possible!
• When the camera asks for a username and password, enter "admin" for both (in
lowercase and without the quotation marks).
• We encourage you to use Internet Explorer as an Internet browser to be able to use
all the features of the camera. Before connecting to the camera an ActiveX plugin
must be installed.
Depending on the security settings for your Internet Explorer an error message ap-
pears, saying a required ActiveX element cannot be installed or that the installation
of the ActiveX can be started manually by clicking on the information bar.
This ActiveX element is necessary for the camera image to be shown.
• Furthermore, modifi cations to the settings of the antivirus or fi rewall programmes
may be required in order to have the softare working fl awlessly.
