Installing the sanding belt
To avoid injury from accidental start,
WARNING
turn switch 'OFF', remove key and
remove plug from power source outlet, before
removing or installing belt.
Ensure table is removed from belt bed. Place belt bed
at 45 degrees angle to facilitate belt changing (see
"Auxiliary mounting for vertical sanding" for belt bed
adjustment).
On the smooth side of the sanding belt, you will find a
'directional arrow'. The sanding belt must run in the
direction of this arrow, so that the splice does not
come apart.
1. Slide tension lever (1) to the right to release the belt
tension, as shown in figure 5.
2. Place the sanding belt (2) over the drums with the
directional arrow (3) pointing counter-clockwise,
figure 6. Make sure the belt is centred on both
drums.
3. Slide tension lever (1) to the left to apply belt
tension, as shown in figure 7.
Note: Use 4 x 36 inch Abrasive belts only.
Adjusting / tracking the sanding belt
1. Plug in the power cord. Turn switch 'On' and
immediately 'OFF', noting if the belt tends to slide
off the idler drum or drive drum. If it did not tend to
slide off it is TRACKING properly.
2. If the sanding belt moves toward the disc, loosen
lock knob (6) by turning it counter clockwise, then
turn the tracking knob (5) clockwise 1/4 turn.
3. If the sanding belt moves away from the disc, turn
the tracking knob (5) counter-clockwise 1/4 turn.
4. Turn switch 'ON' and immediately 'OFF' noting belt
movement. Readjust tracking knob if necessary.
5. Once the belt is tracking properly; while holding
tracking adjustment knob (5) firmly in place, turn
tracking lock knob (6) clockwise until it is locked
tight.
6. Confirm the gap of maximum 1/16" (1.6mm)
between the work support and sanding surface,
