Setting up the equipment

1.1

Line voltage and voltage selector (5)

Connect unit to earthed power. The unit will automatically set itself to the
available power.
Attention: Units of the first series must be switched over manually. If this is the
case, remove the voltage selector housing and turn the grey insert around.
Then check that the correct line voltage is displayed.
1.2

Earthed power supply

The system has a hot restrike (HR) system that eliminates delays when
reactivating a hot lamp. For safety reasons, the earth wire that conducts the
high ignition voltages required for this feature must be in perfect condition; the
status of this wire can be checked by means of the protective earth monitoring
indicator (3) (see 1.3). The unit must therefore always be plugged into an
earthed electrical socket.
1.3

Setting up

Connect the HMI F575 lamp to the HMI 575 ballast and insert the protecting
glass (otherwise the system cannot be switched on).
Switch on the unit with the main power switch, and check that the protective
earth monitoring indicator (3) lights up. If not, for safety reasons you must
switch off the unit immediately and check the earthing wire before proceeding
further. The red indicator light built into the main power switch, lights up when
the unit is activated.
If the lamp switch is also set to ON, the lamp will light after about 2 seconds.
Optimum colour temperature will be reached after about 3 minutes.
Taking the life-span of the burner into consideration, the heating process of
approx. 3 minutes should not be interrupted. The heating process must take
place with constant full power.
Make sure that the ventilation slots in the ballast and lamp are unobstructed.
2.

Power regulation

Use the power regulator (1) to adjust the light output (adjustment range is
approximately 1 f-stop). Please note that colour temperature may change
along with output, depending on the particular lamp model used. During the
heating up process the power regulator should be switched on full power.
3.
Operation mode switch (11)
With this switch you can choose the mode of operation "flickerfree" or
"lownoise".
