Fault
Cartridge doesn't fire.
Fastener penetrates too
deeply (inadequate fastener
stand-off).

Possible cause
The tool is not pressed fully against
the working surface.
The cartridge strip is used up.
The magazine or fastener guide is
not screwed on far enough.
One of the cartridges is faulty.
The tool is defective or the cart-
ridges are faulty.
The tool is not cycled.
The fastener missed the steel
beam.
There is space between the sheet
and the supporting material.
The wrong piston has been fitted.
Fastener driven into the rib of the
beam.
Supporting material is too thick, or
the thickness has changed.
Fastener driving power is too low.
The tool needs to be cleaned.
The piston is broken.
The tool is damaged.
The wrong piston has been fitted.
Remedy
Press the tool fully against the
working surface and pull the trig-
ger.
Remove the used cartridge strip.
Load a new strip.
Screw the magazine farther onto
the tool.
Cycle the tool and use up the re-
maining cartridges.
Contact Hilti.
Cycle the tool.
Mark the position of the beam.
Drive another fastener into the
beam.
Check to ensure that the sheet
rests tightly against the support-
ing material.
Check that the right combination
of piston and fastener is used.
Use the X 76 P ENP PTR pis-
ton for X ENP fasteners. Use the
X 76 P ENP2K PTR piston for
ENP2K fasteners.
Drive a second fastener.
Increase fastener driving power
in accordance with recommenda-
tions or, respectively, use a more
powerful cartridge.
