Unpacking the MACSQuant Tyto Cell Sorter
The instrument requires adequate air circulation for heat exchange and cooling. Read the chapter
safety information to avoid the risk of overheating. Do not place the instrument on a unstable cart, stand,
tripod, or bracket. As a consequence, the instrument might fall down, which may cause serious bodily harm
and/or serious damage to the instrument. Use only a table, cart, stand, tripod or bracket that can easily support
a weight of >67 kg.
Do not carry the instrument by the orange touchscreen.
The left side of the instrument is heavier.
1 Open the transportation box.
2 Take out all boxes and bags from the upper storage compartment ( Table 2.1 ) and remove the sheet of
foam covering the MACSQuant Tyto Cell Sorter.
3 Lift the MACSQuant Tyto Cell Sorter out of its box. CAUTION! Two people are required to lift the
instrument. Take care to avoid personal strain or injury, especially avoid crushing fingers when you put the
instrument down. Miltenyi Biotec accepts no liability for potential injuries sustained during lifting and/or
movement of the device.
4 Transfer the instrument onto a stable working platform and remove the plastic bag surrounding the device.
5 Take out the monitor holder from the foam and attach it to the rear side of the instrument. Screw the screw
at the bottom of the holder to secure it to the instrument.
6 Take the monitor out of its protection foam and attach it on the top of the monitor holder. A click will
confirm stable attachment.

Installing the MACSQuant Tyto Cell Sorter
1 Connect the monitor with the power cable to the lower AC/DC port at the rear side of the MACSQuant Tyto
Cell Sorter (
2 Connect the HDMI port of the monitor to the socket for the monitor at the rear side of the instrument
(
Figure 1.2 ).
3 Connect the keyboard to the USB port on the right side of the orange touchscreen ( Figure 1.1 ).
