Removing the application tool
– Use the chuck key  to turn the sleeve of the keyed
chuck (21) anticlockwise until the application tool can be
removed.

Dust/Chip Extraction

The dust from materials such as lead paint, some types of
wood, minerals and metal can be harmful to human health.
Touching or breathing in this dust can trigger allergic reac-
tions and/or cause respiratory illnesses in the user or in
people in the near vicinity.
Certain dusts, such as oak or beech dust, are classified as
carcinogenic, especially in conjunction with wood treatment
additives (chromate, wood preservative). Materials contain-
ing asbestos may only be machined by specialists.
– Use a dust extraction system that is suitable for the ma-
terial wherever possible.
– Provide good ventilation at the workplace.
– It is advisable to wear a P2 filter class breathing mask.
The regulations on the material being machined that apply in
the country of use must be observed.
Avoid dust accumulation at the workplace. Dust can
u
easily ignite.
Dust Extraction System/Dust Container
Warning: Danger of fire! Do not work on any metallic
u
materials with the dust extraction attachment fitted.
Hot metal chips can ignite parts of the dust container.
Avoid dust accumulation at the workplace. Dust can
u
easily ignite.
Note: Do not use the dust extraction system (15) when chis-
elling or screwdriving.
The dust extraction system (15) springs back while working
so that the dust collector is always kept close to surface.
The dust extraction system is automatically switched on and
off with the power tool.
To achieve optimum extraction results, pay attention to the
following instructions:
– The application tool being used must not project beyond
the dust collector (18) or (31).
– Ensure that the dust collector is placed flush against the
workpiece or wall. This also makes it easier to work at a
right angle.
– When you reach the required drilling depth, pull the drill
bit out of the drill hole first and then switch off the power
tool.
– Check the condition of the filter element (25) regularly.
Change the filter element immediately if it is damaged.
Removing/Fitting the Dust Extraction System (see
figure F)
– To remove the dust extraction system (15), press the re-
lease button (11) and pull the dust extraction system to-
ward you.
To do this, move the auxiliary handle (13) to the side if
necessary.
Bosch Power Tools
– To fit the dust extraction system (15), slide it via the
guide grooves (23) onto the support guide of the power
tool until you hear it click into place.
Self-Generated Dust Extraction with Dust Box (see
figure G)
The filling level of the dust box (10) can easily be checked
through the transparent flap (24).
Empty the dust box at regular intervals to avoid any reduc-
tion in suction capacity.
– To remove the dust box (10), press the two release
buttons (12) and pull the dust box downward out of the
dust extraction system (15).
– Before opening the dust box (10), gently strike or tap it
against a firm surface to loosen the dust from the filter
element (25).
– Open the dust box flap (24) on the bottom and empty the
dust box.
– Check the filter element (25) for damage. If it is dam-
aged, replace it immediately.
– Shut the dust box flap (24) and reinsert the dust box from
below into the dust extraction system (15) until you hear
it click into place.
External Dust Extraction (see figure H)
In order to use dust extraction with a dust extractor, the ad-
apter box (26) (accessory) is required, which is inserted
into the dust extraction system (15) instead of the dust
box (10).
– To remove the dust box (10), press the two release
buttons (12) and pull the dust box downward out of the
dust extraction system (15).
– Reinsert the adapter box (26) into the dust extraction
system from below until you hear it click into place.
– Connect an extraction hose (28) (accessory) to the ex-
traction outlet (27). Connect the dust extraction
hose (28) to a vacuum cleaner (accessory). You will find
an overview of connecting to various vacuum cleaners at
the end of these operating instructions.
The dust extractor must be suitable for the material being
worked.
When extracting dust that is dry, especially detrimental to
health or carcinogenic, use a special dust extractor.
Setting the Drilling Depth (see figure I)
You can use the depth stop (29) to set the required drilling
depth X.
– Push the SDS plus application tool into the SDS plus tool
holder (2) as far as it will go. Otherwise, the movability of
the SDS plus drilling tool can lead to incorrect adjustment
of the drilling depth.
– Without switching it on, press the power tool firmly
against the surface you wish to drill. The SDS plus applic-
ation tool must be touching the surface.
– Press the button for depth stop adjustment (17) and
move the depth stop (29) so that the clearance X shown
in the figure corresponds with the required drilling depth.
