USER GUIDE

1. Safety Precautions

Failure to follow the instruction could lead to your airbag malfunctioning or reduce its
effectiveness.
CAUTION
• The Helite airbag must fit your size.
• Do not remove any part of the trigger system.
• Do not hook your airbag to the D-ring
• Once used, the CO2 cartridge must be replaced with a new cartridge of the same capacity.
• Remove any pointed objects such as pens, pins, glasses and mobile phones from your
clothing before putting on the Helite airbag.
• Detach the airbag from the saddle before dismounting to avoid accidental inflation.
• Check that your airbag garment is in good condition, i.e. no rips or tears, before each use.
• If you are unsure whether your airbag is working correctly, we recommend that you take it
to an authorized dealer.
• Store your Helite airbag on a clothes hanger. Do not fold it or hang anything else on top of it.
Keep away from high temperatures and humidity.
• Do not sew or stick anything onto the Helite airbag as it could pierce the airbags and prevent
them from working properly.
• Make sure you use a Helite stirrup strap and attach it correctly to the saddle.

2. General Information

The airbag garment is worn like a normal jacket when horse riding. The user attaches the
lanyard to the stirrup strap attachment. When the rider falls or is thrown from the horse, the
lanyard linking the rider to the saddle stretches and forces the key ball bearing out which in
turn disengages the release pin. The CO2 is then discharged into the airbags reaching full
inflation in less than 0.1 seconds.
• Helite airbags absorb shocks and offer the neck and trunk more support, thus reducing the
risk of over bending the spinal column.
• Helite airbags cannot guarantee the rider absolute safety. The airbag does not protect the
rider from all injuries. The airbag offers additional protection and doesn't substitute any foam
body protector. The airbag must be worn on top of traditional protective riding gear (type EN
13158, for example).
• Considerable force, around 35kg, is required to activate the trigger mechanism, so the Helite
system should not be activated during normal use. Should the lanyard linking the saddle to
the release pin catch on any obstruction, accidental activation could occur. If the horse falls
and the rider stay in the saddle, the Helite system cannot be activated until the activation
distance is reached.
• The Helite airbag does not protect areas which are not covered by the airbags.
• The CO2 cartridge is not re-usable. The used cartridge will have to be recycled or disposed in
accordance with your country's legislation.
• This personal protection device contains no known allergenic substances. The design will
not cause irritation or any discomfort to the wearer.
