Electrical connection and connection for electric
heating
Faults in the connection of the air curtain system can lead to damage. We assume no
liability for damage resulting from incorrect connection or improper use.
Follow the NEN 1010 regulations with regard to the electrical connection.
In all cases, observe the terminal designations and the circuit diagram.
For all work on the air curtain system, the safety instructions must always be checked and
observed.
•
Interrupt the voltage to the air curtain system and secure the installation against
unauthorized switching.
•
Wait until the fans have stopped.
•
Let the electric heating element or hot water element cool down.
•
The connection may only be carried out by qualified specialist personnel.
•
Furthermore, the general provisions and guidelines of the NEN 1010 standard apply.
A black electrical junction box is located on top of the air curtain system. This contains the con-
nection terminals for the supply voltage of the air curtain.
In appliances with electric heating, the connection terminals of the heating circuit are also in the
connection box. With a heating capacity ≥30 kW, an additional contact strip is available in the air
curtain system.
By detaching the suction grille from the casing, it becomes possible to open the inspection cover
with a flat screwdriver. Provide the 230V supply with a 2-pole isolator switch and an additional
3-pole isolation switch for the 400V / 50Hz power supply if it is an electrically heated version.
For the protection of the air curtain, preferably use a circuit breaker with a sufficiently slow
character (C-characteristic) in connection with the relatively high starting current.
Connection of the controller
Every air curtain is completed with a digital controller and its plug in connecting cable. The
controller is specified as type GTC I/II for water heated air curtains and as type GTC E for
electrically heated air curtains. The digital controller is connected at the 'CONTROL' terminal
block, positioned on the right hand top side of the air curtain, by using the provided cable. On
the cable two male RJ-45 connectors are attached, standard cable length is 20 meters. A cable
with a length of 50 meters is available on request. It is not possible to connect separate cables to
each other to enlarge the cable length. Air curtains equipped with a triac-based controller have
a second connection ('AUXILIARY' of 'AUX') to connect multiple air curtains on one controller.
If an air curtain is equipped with a transformerbased controller (a second connection is not
present) an optional Y-adapter is available on request to connect multiple air curtains on one
controller. Every controller has a memory function, in case of a power failure the selected fan
speed will be returned after the power is re-established. Every controller is also provided with
a potential free contact. This contact can be used for any remote ON/OFF device, for example
a Building Management System, switching thermostat, clock timer or fire alarm. See for details
the wiring diagrams further in this manual and the operation manual enclosed with the GTC
controller.
A manual / automatic control is optionally available with connections for a room thermostat, a
frost protection thermostat and a door contact. For more information and application of this
manual / automatic arrangement, please contact your supplier.
