2. If the batteries are supplied without acid
solution, they must be filled up with a sulphuric
acid solution (specific gravity not less than 1,270 at
77˚F) according to the instructions of the next
paragraph.
3 . If the machine is supplied without batteries, they
have to be provided and assembled. It is
recommended to use the service of qualified
personnel to choose and assemble the batteries.
FILLING THE BATTERIES WITH ACID SOLUTION
WARNING : the battery acid is corrosive and if it
comes in contact with the skin or eyes, rinse
thoroughly with water and consult a physician.
The batteries must be filled up in a well-ventilated
area. (Fig. 2)
Fill up each battery cell with acid. Wait one hour
and recheck the acid level, fill if necessary. Let the
batteries rest for another hour; then proceed with
recharging batteries according to the instructions
specified in the Battery User Manual and in the
MAINTENANCE paragraph.
Connect the batteries using the cables contained in
the plastic bag supplied with the machine, being
very careful not to create a contact between the (+)
and the (-) poles of the batteries.
Connect a cable to one pole and cover it with the
special insulator, then connect another cable and
insulate it, and continue this procedure.
Once assembled, the batteries must be recharged to
give them the rated Volt and Ampere values.
Recharge them using a suitable battery charger.
(Fig. 8)
RECHARGING BATTERIES
The recharge must be done in a well ventilated
area.
During the recharge the battery caps must be open.
Make sure that the voltage and the frequency
ratings of the power supply/wall outlet correspond
to the values indicated on the battery charger.
Connect the battery charger to the battery cables
using the plug. Shown in Figure B Remove all
battery caps and turn on the battery charger.
(Fig. B)
After the batteries have been charged, turn off the
battery charger, disconnect the cable plug and
screw the caps back on the batteries. reconnect the
battery plug to the connector located on the
machine and close the seat cover.
Each time the batteries are charged, repeat the
above procedure.
INSTALLING THE SIDE BRUSH
Position the brush as indicated in the Figure 3 ,
climb onto the machine and adjust the seat to find
the most comfortable position. (Fig. 4)
Now the machine is ready to be used.
STARTING
Insert the ignition key (item 8 in Fig. A) into the
switch and turn it clockwise: after about three
seconds the battery voltage will appear on the
display. (item 3 in Fig. A)
The display has three functions:
a ) voltmeter
b ) hour meter
c ) trouble shooting display.
a ) The voltmeter will activate the disable function
during a low voltage condition and will disable
all machine functions except for the drive when
the battery voltage drops below 20 Volts (the
display flashes code190) At 19 Volts the machine
is totally disabled including the drive. Recharge
