CAUTION
Prior to use, it is essential to check that the
Tunneller is complete and intact.
In the event of improper use of the Tunneller
(e.g. too much force or incorrect length of
the rod), the handle or parts of the han-
dle may break or become damaged, the
tunnelling rod may bend or the connec-
tion between the handle and the rod may
fail. In this case, the proper functioning of
the Tunneller can no longer be guaranteed,
and the instrument must be replaced with a
new one. Improper use may lead to injuries
to the user and/or the patient and impair
the functionality of the Shunt System to be
implanted.
Selecting a layer of skin that is unsuitable
for tunnelling may injure the surrounding
tissue or organs and increase the risk of
infection.
Do not reshape the tunnelling rod during
its subcutaneous insertion in order to avoid
injuries to the skin.
Correct tunnelling is essential when pass-
ing through particularly critical areas (col-
lar bone, thorax, fascia) in order to avoid
injuring the surrounding tissue structures or
organs and accidentally piercing the skin.
