Our semi-hermetic compressors must be installed horizontally.
For marine or on-board installations, contact Tecumseh.
Unless authorised in writing by Tecumseh, compressors are not designed for installation in
chemically aggressive, or bacteriologically or radiologically contaminated environments, or in potentially
explosive atmospheres.
Compressors should never be installed in locations or rooms where the surface temperature of the
compressor could rise above the limits for use specified in the previous section.
Transport:
Transport the compressor bolted to a pallet and lift it with the assistance of a lifting ring; refer to section 1.
Installation:
Compressors must always be solidly fixed to a frame, suitable for withstanding static and dynamic forces.
When starting up, the compressor can cause serious vibration, especially if it is wired DOL (Direct On Line).
It is recommended that the rubber vibration dampers supplied with the compressor are used.
The compressor must be mounted on specially designed supports.
For compressors mounted on vibration dampers, the nut should be tightened until the thickness of the
damper is slightly reduced.

4.1- Brazing.
The compressor is delivered pressurised with nitrogen; handle it with care, use protective
equipment and de-pressurise before brazing.
Avoid introducing air into the compressor, as far as possible.
Valves are designed for metric or imperial tube diameters. The tube may penetrate into the valve to a
greater or lesser extent, depending on its diameter. Do not overheat valves; cool them during and after
brazing. The maximum temperature must not exceed 700°C. Use clean, dry tubes and components from
sealed packages.
It is essential that a dehydrating filter is fitted in the liquid line. It is advisable to installer a 25
micron or less molecular strainer filter on the suction line.
