2.1
General safety notes
NOTICE
Disconnect system from energy sources!
Ensure that the electrical components are disconnected from the electrical power supply during the work.
WARNING
Live parts! The housing of the control unit may only be opened by a qualified electrically skilled person!
Work on the control unit is restricted to:
switching on the contactor and adjusting the motor protection switch
replacing the batteries,
connection in accordance with the installation instructions and connection diagram.
All work extending beyond this may only be carried out by the KESSEL customer service or a service partner of
KESSEL AG

Live parts
Heed the following points when working on electrical cables and connections.
The national regulations concerning electrical safety apply to all connections and installation work.
The system must be supplied through a residual current protection device (RCD) with residual current of not
more than 30mA.
Operating and maintenance instructions must be kept available at the product.
2.2
Note ATEX fusing
WARNING
The EX marking identifies components and products that satisfy the ATEX requirement (ATEX Directive 2014/34/
EU).
WARNING
Use only ATEX system(s) and explosion-proof components for potentially explosive zones. Separate safety mea-
sures have to be taken for potentially explosive zones:
Carry out an ATEX risk assessment according to the valid EU Directive and define EX zones.
Check whether the pump(s) and other system components (incl. accessories) are intended for ATEX use and
satisfy the requirements of the defined zone.
Check whether the control unit is intended for joint use with the pumps used and is an ATEX variant.
In ATEX areas the product must be installed and operated in accordance with the following standards:
EN 60079-14 Explosive atmospheres. Electrical installations design, selection and erection
EN 60079-17 Explosive atmospheres. Electrical installations inspection and maintenance
EN 60079-19 Explosive atmospheres. Equipment repair, overhaul and reclamation
2.3
Personnel - qualification
The relevant operational safety regulations and the hazardous substances ordinance or national equivalents apply for the
operation of the system.
The operator of the system must:
prepare a risk assessment
identify and demarcate corresponding hazard zones
carry out safety training
secure the system against unauthorised use.
