2.5- XS Compact second stage
XS Compact second stage is a revolutionary downstream regu-
lator, featuring reduced weight (with only 135 gr. it is the lightest
in Cressi sub range) and carefully designed.
XS Compact was designed and realized using carefully chosen
materials and shows other innovative features as well: it is sold in
combination with different Cressi sub first stages, always keeping
the same components and the same functions, while varying in
each type the colour of the cap.
All types of XS Compact second stage are designed for use in
warm water (>10°C/50°F) and guarantee the easiest use to both
the beginner and the most experienced diver, offering a complete
range of regulators for any type of use.
The second stage case is made of a new elastic techno-polymer
showing excellent mechanical qualities and extremely carefully fin-
ished, including 3D photo-incision anti-scratch treatment to protect
it from shocks and abrasions and guarantee its utmost resistance.
The second stage cap is equipped with a hand air release button
bettered in comparison to the previous range of regulators,
showing a higher functionality besides a special asymmetrical dis-
tribution of the holes which allows a controlled water flow in order
to enhance the device performances.
XS Compact second stage is designed to release air on demand,
that is only when the diver inhales through his mouthpiece, creating
a light depression inside the regulator. This light depression, such as
not to cause breathing effort in combination with the external pres-
sure, works onto the XS Compact seal, which is properly calibrated
to ensure the best useful working surface. In this way the breathing
effort is maintained at the lowest level while the performances are
guaranteed to be the same as those of bigger sized regulators.
The circular seal, among the smallest sized today on the market,
is sucked in during inhaling and moves the teflon central plate
onto the lever, which comes in a revolutionary patented varying

shape, designed to dramatically reduce the friction caused by the
contact between lever and seal, by concentrating it onto a single
spot on the plate. The friction of the lever onto the plate, as in the
other regulators, is therefore avoided, along with the noxious fric-
tion which unavoidably affects the device performances.
The lever bends and opens the release valve, completely re-
designed as well.
The air flowing out of the adjustable valve nozzle is pushed into
the injector leading it directly to the mouthpiece, where it is sub-
jected to the Venturi effect acceleration and causes a depression
