CLEANING AND STERILIZATION FOR FIBEROPTIC LIGHT GUIDES
The cleaning and sterilization methods for the devices were validated and
information on them is provided under consideration of ISO 17664.
Fiberoptic light guides are high quality optical devices. They require similar care
to that taken for any precision optical component.
During cleaning, care must be exercised handling the light guides to
avoid breaking fiber. Do not forcefully bend, kink, or handle roughly.
CLEANING
Cleaning solutions must be prepared according to the manufacturer's
instructions and compatible with the material components (silicone, stainless
steel, and glass) of the light guide.
Step 1:
Rinse the light guides in running water to remove all loose or
soluble contamination.
Step 2:
With fresh, non-protein fixing, cleaning solution, hand wash the
Light guides.
Step 3:
Using a soft, non-metallic, brush and lint free towels remove all
soil from the light guide. Special attention should be paid to the
junctions between flexible and solid parts to remove any
trapped soil.
