Your Tennant Backpack vacuum cleaner is equipped with a HEPA filter and an exhaust filter.
These filters capture fine dust particles and protect the motor from dirt. It is important to
replace the HEPA filter approximately every six months. Replace the exhaust filter every
fourth paper vacuum bag.
To Change or Clean the Exhaust Filter
1. Unplug the Backpack vacuum cleaner.
2. Detach the exhaust filter holder from the bottom of the unit. (Fig. 21)
3. Remove the exhaust filter from the holder.
4. DO NOT THROW AWAY THE FILTER HOLDER.
5. Remove the exhaust filter from plastic holder and shake or brush dirt from filter.
6. Replace exhaust filter in plastic holder and place into vacuum.
To Change the HEPA Filter
1. Unplug the Backpack vacuum cleaner. Remove the lid, paper bag
and cloth bag to expose the HEPA filter. (Fig. 22)
2. Remove the HEPA filter from the dust compartment.
3. Insert a new filter and refit cloth bag, paper bag and replace lid.
Note: HEPA filters cannot be washed and used again.
CAUTION: Unplug the vacuum cleaner before performing any of these steps.
Your Tennant Backpack vacuum cleaner comes equipped with a Manual Reset Thermal Fuse Protector. This thermal
protector is designed to protect your vacuum cleaner from overheating should the airflow be blocked for extended
periods. This may occur if the vacuum bag is overfull or if the vacuum hose is blocked. The vacuum motor will stop before
it can get too hot. If this happens, empty and thoroughly clean the vacuum bag and HEPA filter or free any blockage and
ensure that adequate airflow is restored. The motor will automatically restart after it has cooled to a safe operating
temperature.
To reset the thermal fuse
1. Unplug the Backpack vacuum cleaner.
2. Check for problem (over-filled bag, clog in hose, clogged filters, etc.).
3. Correct problem.
4. Locate the 'tripped' thermal reset button located on the bottom of the unit.
(Fig. 23).
5. Using a pointed object, push the reset button.
6. Plug Backpack vacuum cleaner in and begin using.
