electrical data and operating conditions
•
The equipment has a single power connection point
immediately upstream from the main disconnect switch
(power supply 230 V - 50 Hz on the terminal strip).
•
All system connections and the electrical installation
must be in accordance with all applicable local codes.
•
The operating conditions are as follows:
-
indoor installation,
-
ambient temperature range: from +5°C minimum
temperature to +40°C,
-
altitude
2000 m,
≤
-
water presence: possibility of water droplets,
-
presence of hard solids: no significant dust present,
-
presence of corrosive substances and pollutants:
negligible.
•
The equipment does not offer power supply conductor
protection.
•
IP protection: the enclosure complies with class IP23.
•
The HSM is regulated by a Pro-Dialog+ type control.
2.2 - Abbreviations used
The following abbreviations are used frequently:
CCN
Carrier Comfort Network. This is the Carrier communication network.
DHW
Domestic hot water
HSM
Heating System Manager (heating system control accessory)
LEN
Internal communication bus, ensures the connection between main
board, slave boards and user interface.
LED
Light-emitting diode.
OAT
Outside air temperature
PD-AUX
Auxiliary input/output board
3 - EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION
3.1 - General
The standard control box includes:
•
a main disconnect switch,
•
the motor start-up and protection equipment,
•
the anti-short-circuit protection equipment,
•
the control circuit supply transformer,
•
the electronic control boards.
The control devices (sensors, pumps and valves) are not
supplied.
The control system includes an NRCP2-BASE board, a
PD-AUX board (controlling a water loop, hot-water
production and emergency heating), an AUX1 board
(controlling a second water loop), a second AUX1 board
(controlling district heating) and a user interface.
All boards communicate via an internal LEN bus. The
NRCP2-BASE board includes the complete unit control
program and continuously manages the recovery of the
values from the various temperature sensors.
The user interface includes an eight-line alphanumeric
display two LEDs, five navigation keys and a contrast
control wheel.

3.2 - Electrical supply to boards
All boards are supplied from a common 24 V a.c. supply
referred to earth. In the event of a power supply interrupt,
the HSM restarts automatically without the need for an
external command.
CAUTION: Maintain the correct polarity of the power
supply connection of the boards, to ensure that they are
not damaged.
3.3 - LEDs on boards
All boards continuously check and indicate the proper
operation of their electronic circuits. An LED lights on
each board when it is operating properly.
•
The red LED that flashes for a two-second period - one
second on, one second off - indicates correct operation.
A different rate indicates a board or a software failure.
•
The green LED flashes continuously on all boards to
show that the board is communicating correctly over its
internal bus. If the LED is not flashing, this indicates a
LEN bus installation problem.
•
The orange LED of the NRCP2-BASE board flashes
during any communication via the CCN bus.
3.4 - Thermistors
The water temperature sensors must be installed on the
different water loops or in the domestic hot water tank.
The OAT sensor will be installed outside, if possible in the
shadow. Please refer to the installation examples on pages
9 to 11.
The temperature sensors are as follows:
GT1
Water temperature loop 1
GT1:3
Heat exchanger leaving water temperature, district heating
GT1:4
Heat exchanger entering water temperature, district heating
GT2
Domestic hot water tank temperature
GT3
Outside air temperature
GT4
Water temperature loop 2
GT5
Domestic hot water temperature
GT7
Additional domestic hot water tank temperature
Back-up heat exchanger temperature for domestic hot water
