Install the new trimmer head
1. Before installing the new trimmer
head, make sure that the flange is
located on the drive shaft with the
bulge facing away from the gear
case and that the flange cover is
closely against the flange with its
flat surface facing outward (Fig. 26).
2. Take out the new trimmer head and
open it. Mount the upper cover onto
the shaft and manually pre-tighten it
with the nut.
3. Rotate the upper cover to align the
slot in the flange with the shaft-
locking hole in the gear case and
insert the provided Allen key into the
aligned holes to act as a stabilizer
(see Fig. 24).
4. Wear gloves. Use the multi-function wrench provided to securely tighten the nut
inside COUNTERCLOCKWISE (Fig. 27).
5. Mount the spring onto the drive shaft (see Fig. 23).
6. Wind the trimmer line onto the spool assembly and mount the spool assembly
into the spool retainer, refer to "LINE REPLACEMENT" section.
SHARPEN THE LINE-CUTTING BLADE
WARNING:
performing any maintenance on the line-cutting blade.
1. Remove the line-cutting blade from the guard accessory.
2. Secure the blade in a vise.
3. Wear proper eye protection and gloves and be careful not to cut yourself.
4. Carefully file the cutting edges of the blade with a fine-tooth file or sharpening
stone, being careful to maintain the original cutting-edge angle.
5. Replace the blade onto the guard and secure it in place with the two screws.
