Mounting the pillars
Concrete foundation
To prevent the ground plates (➨A) from moving due to weather, they must be firmly fixed on a flat
concrete foundation. The position of the cable on the ground plate must be taken into account.
The minimum size of the concrete foundation (➨C) is depending on the pillars height. For pillars up to
2m high, the foundation area must be at least 60 x 60 cm. When they exceed 2 m, the foundation area
should be 80 x 80 cm.
Fix the ground plate on the concrete foundation either by using four 4 heavy-duty bolts (for pillar height
up to 2 m, length 140 mm, M16) or by 2 concrete anchors (➨B) (for pillar height over 2m, depth at
least 350 mm, diameter 16 mm).
Installing the pillars
Pre-drill holes in the pillars, aligned with the ground plate holes. The maximum height of the pillar must
be considered (max. length 1.5 m or 3.0 m, depending on the ground plate).
For wall mounting, leave approx. 4 mm at the mounting side for the cover. If the pillars are to be
installed inside of a building a ground plate can be also used instead of a cover, so no minimum
distance is required.
A tamper switch can be used to further secure the top and bottom covers. This must be installed and
locked at the upper and / or lower end of the pillar. When installing the covers, the switch must be
activated.
Installing the devices in the pillars
The transmitters and receivers are inserted into the pillars at desired height and fastened by screws.
Before installing the devices, confirm where the cables will pass in the pillars.
The installation is made easier as the devices and pillars have already been assembled, wired and
tested in the labority. Consequently, only the underground cable needs to be connected on site.
Installing heating elements
When used outside, the devices and pillars must be equipped with heaters in order to prevent
condensation on the optical devices.
As shown on the illustration,
the heating elements are inserted
into the board (➨8) at the base of the devices.
Pillars should be equipped with at least one panel heating element per meter of pillar above ground
level. The panel heating elements are inserted in the pillars and securedat the correct mounting height.
Heaters can use either AC or DC. If running by AC, an ordinary transformer can be used.
