Installation and connection

4.1

Installation planning

• OASE recommends allowing at least 55 % of the pond water volume to pass through the UVC
clarifier each hour. This ensures that the sterilisation rate is higher than the bacteria growth rate.
• Depending on the application, specific assembly material is required for assembly and connection.
– OASE offers specific assembly material on its homepage or in its catalogue "Water & Garden".
– The "Planning aid Bitron Premium 60 W / 120 W / 180 W" contains all information about applica-
tions, selection of suitable pumps and the required assembly material. The planning aid is avail-
able for download at www.oase-livingwater.com.
4.2

Distance from the pond

The unit must be installed outside of the pond, but is protected against temporary flooding.
• The unit head must be positioned so that it is usually dry.
• Bitron 120 W / 180 W: The switch box must be installed at least 2 m from the edge of the pond.
4.3

Installing a UVC clarifier separately

• The UVC clarifier may only be installed horizontally pointing downward or vertically on a firm base.
– For horizontal installation, the inlet for pump connection must be at the bottom, so that no air can
accumulate in the water housing of the UVC clarifier.
– Allow sufficient space for carrying out maintenance work. At least 600 mm of space must be kept
clear for dismantling and installing the unit head.
• For installation below the level of the water, fit a slide valve in the water supply pipe so that the unit
can be partially or completely sealed off for controlling the flow or for performing maintenance work.
– Recommendation: Slide valve DN 110 (OASE art. 27171).
• If the pump is installed at a dry location, the pressure-side and suction-side connection thread must
be sealed with Teflon tape.
4.3.1

Vertical installation of the UVC clarifier

Use suitable fastening material (screws, dowels) for assembly.
• Select the fastening material so that the unit is stable. Take the weight of the water-filled unit into
account. (→ Technical data)
How to proceed:

1. On the ground, mark the positions for the screws.
2. Drill holes and screw the unit to the ground.
3. Connect the inlet and outlet.
– Assembly material, inlet (IN): OASE accessories 73751, 77191 and hose ∅ 50 mm to the pump
– Assembly material, outlet (OUT): OASE accessories 73751 for connection of pipe DN 110.
– Secure pipe DN 110 against slipping.
