PATIENT PLACEMENT

This chapter gives details of procedures for moving the patient safely to and from the TheraKair Visio MRS.

Before placing a patient on the TheraKair Visio MRS, it is recommended that personnel
familiarize themselves with the information outlined in the Safety Information section and
Operation chapter of this manual as well as the procedures outlined below.

Preparing for Patient Placement

1. Ensure that the system is set up as described in the Preparation for Use chapter of this manual.
2. Ensure that a cover sheet is fitted and secured before transferring a patient.
3. Ensure that the system has been properly cleaned and disinfected, as detailed in the Care and
Cleaning section of this manual before a new patient is moved to the TheraKair Visio MRS.
4. A clean set of air cushions and a clean cover sheet should be used for each new patient.

Patient Transfer to TheraKair Visio MRS

1. Press the InstaFlate button on the Home screen to access the InstaFlate screen.
2. Press the ON button on the InstaFlate screen to activate the InstaFlate function.
3. Raise / lower the height of the bed to the same level as the surface from which the patient is being
transferred.
4. Lower the side rails.
5. Transfer the patient to the TheraKair Visio MRS.
6. Center the patient on the mattress from side to side.
7. Raise the side rails on both sides of the bed and lock in place.
8. Press the OFF button on the InstaFlate screen to deactivate the InstaFlate function.
9. Exit the InstaFlate screen to return to the Home screen.
10. Adjust the bed height to its lowest level and adjust the head of the bed as needed for
patient comfort.
11. Make patient specific adjustments as required.
