Ex – Safety information
Batteries must not be separated from the unit in hazardous areas with a
potentially explosive atmosphere.
Charging the batteries
The chargers are not explosion-proof and therefore may be installed and used only
outside of hazardous areas with potentially explosive atmospheres! That is why
charging of the batteries is allowed only outside of hazardous areas, too .
Only use the system-compatible chargers and their matching plug-in power
supplies as listed below:
Desktop Charger DC4 S/Ex Standard with part no. 50 1080 9201 and the
matching plug-in power supply with part no. 59 0060 2905 or
Desktop Charger DC4 S/Ex Plus with part no. 50 1080 9200 and the mat-
ching plug-in power supply with part no. 59 0060 2814.
The use of other chargers is strictly forbidden since the batteries might over-
heat and be damaged.
Use of bags for explosion-proof units with and without a clip
If units with a bag are to be used in hazardous areas with potentially explosive
atmospheres, there are two options:
Use of an explosion-proof unit with a clip along with a bag, part no.
50 1011 7500
Use of an explosion-proof unit without a clip in a bag, part no.
50 1011 7501
Attention: Explosion-proof units without a clip may be brought into hazardous
areas with potentially explosive atmospheres and operated there only in the
special bag with part no. 50 1011 7501.
In addition, the following conditions must be met:
Only a qualified electrician with special knowledge in explosion protection is
