DiTemp
General safety instructions:
In all work, the existing national regulations for accident prevention and safety in the
workplace must be complied with. Any internal regulations of the operator must also be
complied with, even if these are not mentioned in this manual.
The measuring accuracy can be significantly influenced by the installation conditions, e.g.
by the installation depth and the heat conduction via the material at the screw-in position.
When measuring high media temperatures it is possible that the ambient temperature at
the thermometer housing will exceed the permissible maximum value (+60 °C). This may
damage the measuring instrument. We recommend the use of our DiTemp with remote
cable when measuring media temperatures greater than 200 °C.
Always observe the specified degree of protection for the instrument.
Never open the display head, otherwise the degree of protection (IP65) cannot be guaran-
teed.
Never remove the protective tube of the temperature sensor while the system is operat-
ing!
Never touch the temperature sensor or connected components if the medium being
measured is subject to high temperatures.
It is recommended, if possible, to always install display heads at eye level (especially for
the remote thermometer).
The battery should last for the entire service life of the measuring instrument and, there-
fore, does not have to be changed.
Special safety instructions:
Caution:
Since the measuring instrument is supplied with battery power, a DiTemp with program-
mable switch outputs should not be used as an active process control instrument, as fre-
quent switching can reduce the battery's service life.
Caution:
If the thermometer is to be used in applications with high pressures and/or high tempera-
tures, high medium flow rates or corrosive and abrasive media, the thermometer immer-
sion tube has to be additionally protected by a protective tube in accordance with DIN
43772.
Applies to the explosive atmosphere version:
The switching or transmitter output of the thermometer should only be operated within a cer-
tified intrinsically safe circuit.
The connector can be disconnected in explosive atmospheres due to the certified intrinsically
safe circuit. This applies to the connector of the measuring sensor and the connector of the
switching or transmitter output.
Further warnings that are specifically relevant to individual operating procedures or activities
can be found at the beginning of the relevant sections of this operating manual.
